Job description

Senior Embedded Software Engineer

OnSite | U.S. Citizenship Required | Active DoD Secret Clearance

Prestige Personnel is partnering with a leading defense organization to expand their engineering team across several missioncritical programs. These roles offer the opportunity to contribute to highimpact, technically complex initiatives that drive innovation, strengthen readiness, and support the advancement of nextgeneration systems.

Position Overview

As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you will work on major weapons programs integrating complex mission systems. You will lead development teams, provide strategic technical guidance, and translate multisystem architecture into actionable tasks for both yourself and the broader engineering team.

This role requires onsite work at a secure facility. Remote work is not available. Due to government clearance requirements, applicants must be United States Citizens. Legal permanent residents do not meet this requirement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop embedded software solutions for complex mission systems
  • Provide seniorlevel architectural guidance and conduct reviews for existing and proposed systems
  • Serve as a senior individual contributor on advanced weapon system development
  • Collaborate effectively within a dynamic, teambased engineering environment
  • Maintain an active DoD Secret clearance and obtain Special Access Program (SAP) approval
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience developing C/C++ software for embedded defense applications
  • Experience with realtime or lowlevel systems development
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices, automated builds, testing, and secure integration workflows
  • Experience working within Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
  • Ability to work onsite in McKinney, TX or El Segundo, CA
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

Base Salary:

Texas (McKinney): $145,000 $165,000 base salary; California (El Segundo): $160,000 $185,000 base salary. This range reflects data for seniorlevel embedded engineers supporting cleared, missioncritical defense programs. Additional variable compensation and equity options may be available based on experience and program alignment.
