Job description
Research Associate, Utilities & AI Infrastructure
Why YOU want this position
At Enverus, we're committed to empowering the global quality of life by helping our customers make energy affordable and accessible to the world.
We are the most trusted energy-dedicated SaaS company, with a platform built to maximize value from generative AI, and our innovative solutions are reshaping the way energy is consumed and managed. By offering anytime, anywhere access to analytics and insights, we're helping our customers make better decisions that help provide communities around the world with clean, affordable energy.
The energy industry is changing fast. But we've continued to lead the way in energy technology, creating intelligent connections across the entire energy ecosystem, from renewables, power and utilities, to oil and gas and financial institutions. Our solutions create more efficient production and distribution, capital allocation, renewable energy development, investment and sourcing, and help reduce costs by automating crucial business operations. Of course, this wouldn't be possible without our people, which is why we have built a team of individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds.
Are you ready to help power the global quality of life? Join Enverus, and be a part of creating a brighter, more sustainable tomorrow.
The Utilities & AI Infrastructure team sits at the intersection of two of the most capital-intensive build-outs in the modern economy: the electrification of the US grid and the explosive growth of AI data-center demand. We produce intelligence products, financial models, and strategic research used across Enverus and by clients navigating this convergence. The work is fast, data-dense, and consequential.
Most research shops hand the hardest problems to the most senior person on the team and have everyone below execute. We do the opposite. Every analyst, including those at entry level, owns their projects end to end and pulls in senior teammates for guidance. That hands-on, problem-by-problem ownership is how you build the judgment to add real value for clients, and it's the single biggest reason people stay on this team.
Performance Objectives
- Build and maintain financial models tracking power-demand growth from hyperscaler and co-location data centers across ISO regions.
- Monitor utility filings, rate cases, interconnection queues, and capacity-expansion plans, and surface what matters for Enverus clients.
- Conduct primary research: earnings calls, investor days, regulatory dockets, and industry conferences.
- Synthesize findings into concise written briefs, data tables, and internal memos.
- Support senior analysts on large research projects, from data collection through publication.
- Work with Enverus proprietary datasets (PRISM and our market-intelligence platforms) to ground research in primary energy data.
Competitive Candidate Profile
- A clear communicator. You can turn a filing or earnings transcript into a tight, pointed summary, and explain it so a non-expert gets it.
- 0 to 3 years in energy, finance, consulting, or a research-intensive role; internship experience counts.
- Quantitative fluency: comfortable building and auditing Excel models.
- Genuine curiosity about power infrastructure, AI-hardware supply chains, or energy-transition dynamics.
- Care about getting the details right; you notice when the numbers don't tie.
- Familiarity with SQL, Python, or data tools is a plus, not a requirement.
- Prior exposure to utility regulation, PJM, ERCOT, or MISO market structure, or data-center real estate.
- Experience with the sell-side or buy-side equity-research process.
- You can form a view and back it up. We're hiring an analyst, not a summarizer.
Why this role
AI infrastructure is one of the most analytically underserved corners of energy right now. You'll have access to proprietary Enverus data most analysts can't touch, work on research that gets read at the executive level and build expertise in a space growing faster than almost anything else in the economy.
