What are SQL Python Interns?

SQL Python Interns are entry-level professionals or students who assist with database management and data analysis tasks using SQL (Structured Query Language) and Python programming. They typically work under the supervision of experienced data engineers or analysts to help retrieve, process, and analyze data. Their responsibilities may include writing SQL queries, cleaning datasets, automating data workflows with Python, and generating reports. This internship provides hands-on experience in data manipulation, programming, and problem-solving, which are valuable skills for careers in data science and analytics.

What kinds of projects and tasks can a SQL Python Intern expect to work on during their internship?

As a SQL Python Intern, you can expect to work on tasks such as data cleaning, database querying, and developing scripts to automate data processing. Interns often assist in building and maintaining data pipelines, generating reports, and supporting data analysis for ongoing projects. You'll typically collaborate with data analysts, engineers, and sometimes business stakeholders to ensure data integrity and provide insights that drive decision-making. This role provides hands-on experience with real datasets and gives you the opportunity to learn best practices in both SQL and Python within a collaborative, supportive team environment.

Job description

About the Integrated Planning Team

The Integrated Planning & Business Operations team acts as the engine that plans and drives materials for Zipline's expansion into new metros across the United States. Joining the team means you will be fundamental in the build-out of our planning and analytical frameworks that drive long-term health of our supply chain, ensuring we maintain the rigorous planning, vendor partnerships, and component availability required to meet our deployment demands.

The Role

In the capacity of a Material Planning Intern, you will facilitate the high-level planning and tactical execution necessary for hardware material readiness. This role involves deep collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Global Supply Management to refine reporting structures, optimize vendor interactions, and drive the successful deployment of major vehicle systems.

We are looking for a highly collaborative, detail-oriented individual who is ready to immerse themselves in the operational foundation that supports Zipline's global scaling efforts.

This onsite internship will be hosted at our headquarters in South San Francisco.

What You'll Do
  • Support the maintenance of Clear to Build (CTB) tracking for vital systems, assisting with risk mitigation and cross-team communication.
  • Develop automated reporting and visibility dashboards focused on part shortages, shipment logistics, and other essential planning data.
  • Optimize spares management by evaluating consumption patterns and proposing stocking methodologies for our current flight programs.
  • Establish standardized supplier reporting formats for capacity updates and delivery timelines to streamline data intake.
  • Iterate on scalable planning workflows and tools that enhance transparency across all functional departments.
What You'll Bring
  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's program in Supply Chain, Engineering, or a technical discipline; advanced degrees (MBA/MS) are highly valued.
  • Superior analytical capabilities with a proficiency in data tools, ranging from advanced Excel to SQL or Python.
  • The ability to translate complex findings into clear insights for diverse internal stakeholders.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset characterized by a comfort with ambiguity and a drive to propose and execute solutions independently.
  • A genuine passion for our mission and a commitment to making an impact from the first day of your internship.
What Else You Should Know

Our internships are full-time positions, in-person at our South San Francisco or Dallas office. We will host our Fall 2026 interns from September to December.

Candidates are limited to three (3) applications within a 30-day period.
