Job Title: SQL Developer
Location: Oak Brook, IL ย 
Type: Contract

Job Description: We are seeking a skilled SQL Developer to join our growing data and analytics team. This role is critical to the development, optimization, and maintenance of complex SQL queries and databases that support key healthcare initiatives, reporting requirements, and compliance mandates (e.g., HIPAA). The ideal candidate has experience working with large, complex datasetsโ€”especially in the healthcare industryโ€”and is passionate about turning raw data into actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and
  • functions to support business and clinical / healthcare data needs.
  • Work closely with data analysts, report developers, and stakeholders to gather
  • requirements and deliver accurate, efficient data solutions.
  • Optimize and troubleshoot existing SQL code and queries to improve
  • performance and reliability.
  • Maintain data integrity and ensure proper data governance in alignment with
  • HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
  • Develop and maintain ETL processes to support data integration across systems.
  • Document data models, workflows, and processes for internal use and compliance.
  • Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams on database architecture, dataย warehousing, and analytics initiatives.
  • Analyze technical and general business problems and issues using andย managing data from internal and external sources to provide insight for decision-making.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with primarily co-workers, management, and internal customers.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in SQL development, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Strong knowledge of T-SQL, query optimization, and relational database designย (SQL Server.)
  • Advanced proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, views, joins, temp tables,ย common table expressions, and dynamic queries.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7,ย FHIR, ICD-10, CPT).

Preferred:

  • Payer Operations: Knowledge of claims processing and claim concepts,ย provider and vendor data, and staff productivity metricsย 
  • Utilization Management: Familiarity with authorisation conceptsย 
  • Healthcare Data: General familiarity with healthcare claim concepts such asย claims, enrollment, utilisation, and provider network dataย
