Job description

Benhaven Driving Department is seeking 1 Per Diem Van Driver to cover when Full-time Van Drivers are off. This is a non-exempt unionized position. The Driver will report directly to the Driver Supervisor. The ideal candidates will have V-Endorsement, but we will provide the training to become V-Endorsed if needed. Flexibility is a must in this position. Van Drivers are expected to drive in North Haven, Wallingford, and other surrounding areas.
Responsibilities:
The following duties are assigned to this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Drive students to and from school daily.
  • Provide transportation for schools for recreational activities as needed throughout the day in the Wallingford area.
  • Keep assigned vehicle clean and tidy.
  • Complete pre-trip inspection of assigned vehicle.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Make sure all endorsements and licensures are up to date per agency policies & requirements.
  • Attend all required trainings per agency and state policies & requirements.
  • Follow all agency Policies & Procedures.
Position Requirements:
  • 'V' Endorsement is preferred, but will provide the training if needed

  • Able to pass a DOT physical
  • Able to pass a variety of background checks
