This is a full-time, direct placement role at Reliable Fire & Safety.


Position Overview

The Fire Sprinkler Technician - Fire Protection Specialist is responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining Fire Sprinkler Systems, Backflow Devices, and Fire Alarm Systems. This role includes performing inspections, diagnosing issues, and ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards.

Scope of Work

Key duties and functions include:

  • Assisting with inspections and testing of fire protection systems.
  • Performing repairs and troubleshooting of Fire Sprinkler Systems.
  • Operating Fire Alarm Systems sufficiently to place them in test mode and verify signals to the alarm panel.
  • Maintaining valid Backflow Testing Certification in NC and SC, and performing inspection, testing, repair, and troubleshooting of these devices.
  • Repairing sprinkler system deficiencies, performing light installation/upfit work, and pipe repair (cutting, threading, grooving of steel pipes, and CPVC applications).
  • Conducting sprinkler head replacements in both steel and CPVC systems.
  • Completing required documentation and reports to support service billing.
  • Using company operating software for assignments, inspection reporting, and scheduling.
  • Ensuring compliance with Local, State, and Federal codes and regulations.

  • Assist in expanding Fire Sprinkler and Fire Alarm services to meet growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Complete services in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, codes, standards, and company policies.
  • Perform inspections and related service functions to ensure system functionality.
  • Provide proper documentation for company and customer records, as well as authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Communicate deficiencies, repair needs, and important issues to customers.
  • Follow up on rescheduled repairs to ensure service completion.
  • Market additional services to customers.
  • Provide on-call availability for emergencies and special projects.
  • Train Technician Trainees as assigned.
  • Make informed decisions to ensure successful customer service transactions.
  • Represent the company positively at all times.
  • Maintain required certifications and licenses through continuing education.
  • Adhere to company standards and policies, including safety and substance policies.
  • Work safely, exercising authority to stop unsafe practices when necessary.
  • Support other departments and perform related duties as needed.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of experience in the Fire protection industry

Must be tech-savvy, comfortable with mobile diagnostics, digital reporting, and electronic documentation.

NICET certification required.

Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate a service truck.

Strong working knowledge of codes, regulations, and NFPA standards.

Excellent communication skills with clients, coworkers, and office staff.

Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively under pressure-especially during emergencies.
