Position Summary:

This is a practical course in business law and deals with the basic legal principles in those areas of the law considered essential for the business student. Emphasis is placed on the law of contract, Canadian legal institutions, tort law, business associations, business transactions, and various types of contracts found in the context of business relations. Where possible actual court decisions are studied so the student will be made aware of the judicial approach in dealing with particular problems.

Qualifications - Required Academic Degree: Bachelor's Degree

Qualifications - Required Discipline: LLB/JD degree from a Canadian University or an equivalent degree from another country with a Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation. 

Qualifications - Required Areas of Specialization: Called to the Bar of Ontario or equivalent law society of another Canadian Province or Territory, a current member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario or equivalent law society of another Canadian Province or Territory, current relevant experience as a practicing lawyer, demonstrated ability to teach law to undergraduate business students, ability to maintain regular and reasonably convenient office hours, demonstrated ability to deal with in-class and out of class technology, demonstrated capacity to work as part of a faculty teaching team to ensure consistency across classes in a multi-section course across terms with an established course outline, demonstrated familiarity with the content of BU231. Experience teaching classes of 100+ students is preferred.
