SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the Club Kids counselor is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, supervising, and evaluating the Club Kids Program at the school site (either Spring Hill or Waterbury).  This position will be scheduled for:  Mondays-Fridays, 6:15-8:30am; 3-5 days preferred; 8-11 hours/week - hours could vary, with opportunity for more depending on need  

$15/hour.  Benefits include free individual fitness center pass, free individual pool pass, 25% off programs; certain restrictions apply
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  1. An interest in working in the recreation industry with Park District participants.
  2. The ability to listen and follow directions.
  3. The ability to communicate effectively with parents, children, supervisors, and school officials.
  4. An ability to maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations.
  5. Must be punctual and dependable.
  6. Should be able to be show enthusiasm and patience when working with children.
  7. Direct children's activities in a positive experience.
  8. An understanding of the principles of customer service and client relations.
  9. An understanding of the principles of risk management and safety.
  10. CPR and First Aid Certification.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following tasks:

  1. Ability to communicate effectively with parents, children, supervisors and school officials.
  2. Provide the program participants a safe and fun environment.
  3. Lead and manage daily operations of the program.
  4. Develops routine for each day of Club Kids with assistance from counselors.
  5. Maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations.
  6. Be polite and use a pleasant voice.
  7. Maintain and promote excellent customer service relations and open communication with children, parents,and other affiliates.
  8. Prepare reports as assigned.
  9. Reporting for duty as assigned and finding an appropriate substitute when necessary.
  10. Participating in all pre-employment and in-service training.
  11. Upholding and enforcing all risk management and safety goals and procedures.
