Position Summary 

Zachry Construction is seeking a Concrete Paving Placer/Spreader Operator to join our team on heavy highway construction projects. As a Concrete Paving Placer/Spreader Operator, you will play a crucial role in the construction process by operating specialized equipment to lay and finish concrete pavements. The Concrete Paving Placer/Spreader Operator must be knowledgeable in reading grade stakes and able to adjust machines to grade and level surfaces. 


What You'll Do 

  • Operate and maneuver concrete paving machines, such as slip-form pavers or curb and gutter machines, to accurately place and finish concrete according to project specifications. 
  • Monitor concrete consistency and placement to ensure proper thickness, alignment, and surface smoothness, adhering to project plans and engineering standards. 
  • Control material taken into the paver and the depths of material distributed through the machine.
  • Perform routine maintenance on paving equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and minor repairs, to ensure optimal performance and longevity. 
  • Properly follow all company and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment. 
  • Complete daily pre- and post-trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies. 
  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or concrete placement issues promptly to minimize project delays and ensure quality results. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For 

  • At least 2 years of previous Concrete Paving Placer/Spreader Operator experience. 
  • Must be flexible to work day, night, and weekend shifts. 
  • Demonstrated experience operating concrete paving equipment, with a thorough understanding of machine controls, settings, and adjustments. 
  • Familiarity with concrete materials, mix designs, and placement techniques to achieve desired pavement characteristics and durability. 
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, follow instructions, and convey information regarding equipment operation and project progress. 
  • Capable of performing physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions, including prolonged standing, bending, lifting, and operating heavy machinery for extended periods.
