The Golf Course Spray Technician is responsible for the safe and effective application of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, fertilizers, and other turf management products to maintain the health, appearance, and playability of the golf course. This position works closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent to implement agronomic programs that support exceptional playing conditions while adhering to all safety and environmental regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, fertilizers, and other turf care products according to established schedules and label requirements.
  • Operate and calibrate spray equipment, spreaders, and related application machinery.
  • Monitor turfgrass health and identify weeds, insects, diseases, and other turf issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of all chemical and fertilizer applications in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of integrated pest management (IPM) programs.
  • Inspect, clean, and perform routine maintenance on spray equipment and application vehicles.
  • Follow all safety procedures regarding chemical handling, storage, mixing, transportation, and disposal.
  • Assist with general golf course maintenance activities as needed, including mowing, irrigation repair, bunker maintenance, and course setup.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental stewardship practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training programs, and continuing education opportunities.
QualificationsRequired
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • State pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
  • Knowledge of turfgrass management practices and chemical application procedures.
  • Ability to safely operate spray equipment and maintenance machinery.
  • Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
Preferred
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field.
  • Previous golf course, sports turf, or landscape management experience.
  • Experience with GPS-guided spray systems and application technology.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and operate equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
Work Environment

This position is primarily performed outdoors on a golf course and involves exposure to weather extremes, noise, dust, and regulated chemical products. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and required during chemical handling and application activities.
