Job description

THE POSITIONOur roster has an opening with your name on it
We're seeking a Security Engineering Manager to lead our Cyber Defense Engineering team - a high-performing group of security engineers responsible for managing security risk across FanDuel's global operations. This role sits at the intersection of technical depth and people leadership. You'll need genuine security credibility to earn the trust of your team and partners, paired with the managerial craft to develop engineers, drive a compelling roadmap, and scale your charter through partnerships and automation.
Your team's purview spans endpoint security, SaaS security risk, AI guardrails and enablement, and Data Protection to name a few-a broad and consequential scope that touches every FanDueler. You will report to the Sr. Manager of Cyber Defense Engineering.
In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company. This ensures operational flexibility and allows the Company to meet evolving business needs.
THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play
  • Lead, develop, and grow a team of security engineers, investing in their technical craft, career progression, and day-to-day effectiveness
  • Own the strategy and roadmap for security engineering and drive its execution
  • Serve as a hands-on technical leader and security subject matter expert; earn credibility with engineers and partners alike by engaging meaningfully in technical decisions and pragmatic risk discussions
  • Scale impact through automation, AI-motivated workflows, and a disciplined approach to key partnerships
  • Translating 'secure by default' into practical controls that reduce risk without impeding the business
  • Drive team accountability to operational excellence - owning incident response within your sphere, eliminating toil, and holding a high standard of execution

THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate
  • Demonstrated experience leading and growing a security engineering team, with a track record of delivering meaningful risk reduction at scale
  • You have experience leading or managing engineers, either as a people manager or technical leader with people responsibility.
  • Deep technical credibility across multiple security domains: Zero Trust/Conditional Access approaches, Endpoint Security, Data Protection, Mobile Device Management (MDM), SaaS Security are a few you can expect to operate in.
  • Ability to engage substantively in technical design and architecture decisions - you don't need write code, but you need to understand what your team is building and why
  • Familiarity with development and automation approaches in a security context. Our team uses Python, PowerShell, Terraform, and has dabbled a little bit in Go.
  • Hands-on experience building with AI tools and securing AI technologies. You understand both how to leverage AI to multiply your team's output and how to identify and mitigate the risks AI introduces to the enterprise.
  • Strong strategic and roadmap planning skills: you can identify the highest-leverage opportunities, build conviction around a direction, and rally partners to execute
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to lead with calm and clarity in a rapidly evolving threat landscape and high-ambiguity environment
  • You care deeply about developing people and creating healthy, high-performing teams.

Don't check all the boxes? That's okay! We encourage you to still apply if you feel like you possess an adjacent skill set and are interested in learning more about this position.
