Job description

Security Officer

This position is responsible for providing facility security for all events held at Benchmark International Arena, the Yuengling Center, and any additional venues served by Vinik Sports Group. The Security Officer ensures the safety and protection of all guests and employees while maintaining a secure and welcoming environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide all guests a positive first impression by offering World Class Service
  • Provide guests with accurate arena and event information
  • Enforce building policies and procedures
  • Accurately check all staff/guest bags prior to entering the arena
  • Respond to all emergencies during the event
  • Accurately and thoroughly complete incident reports
  • Work cooperatively with all staff members, law enforcement officers and fire/rescue personnel
  • Respond to all guests' concerns/complaints in a prompt, courteous and professional manner
  • Monitor the crowd during all events to ensure safety for all
  • Verify credentials to control access into restricted areas
  • Maintain a clean and neat appearance during work hours

Qualifications:

  • 1+ year(s) of security experience preferred
  • Knowledge of the Security Chain of Command
  • Security license preferred, Law Enforcement or Military background
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge and skill in radio communication
  • Excellent verbal communication skills required with a thorough understanding of written and spoken English. Bilingual a plus
  • Ability to listen effectively, take and execute directions given
  • Ability to remain calm and focused during times of stress
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment to diffuse volatile situations
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time, walk long distances and climb stairs.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely in the English language
  • Ability to work in areas that can become crowded with equipment and/or people
  • Ability to work comfortably around special effects including, but not limited to: haze, strobe lights, lasers, etc.
  • Ability to work in loud environments
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to walk up to 0.5 miles to and from designated employee parking areas, including in varying earther conditions and during high-traffic event times
  • Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to work in cold/hot indoor and outdoor temperatures
