POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Sports Director or Head Coach, the Assistant Volleyball Coach position will participate in the preparation, coordination, practice and game plan preparation, and execution of practice plans during the season.
Essential Functions / Job Duties:
• Assist the Head Coach with developing and planning age-appropriate practices for assigned team(s).
• Collaborates with the Director to coordinate and promote the Y's Travel Program throughout the community as needed.
• Assist the Head Coach with planning, supervising and implementing practice plans in accordance with YMCA of South Palm Beach County's core values, policies, and Risk Management and Safety procedures.
• Demonstrates, models and gears practices to the needs of individual players with concerns for their interests & special talents.
• Ensures that the arrangement, appearance, decor, and environment of the practice location are safe and conducive to learning.
• Assists Head Coach with maintaining excellent communication with parents regarding team's progress, achievements, and/or concerns.
• Attends YMCA functions such as staff meetings and program events.
• Participates in ongoing professional developmental training and attend coaches meetings as required by the Director.
• Works closely to train and help other coaches with practices as needed by the Director.
• Serves as a liaison between players and the head coach
• Responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork
• Maintains a positive relationship with players, staff, parents, and all stakeholders
• Other duties as needed based on Director or Program Site requirements/needs.
