Job description

Project Director Missions

The project director oversees and animates a team of six economists responsible for economic studies, evaluation of public policies, design of reforms, and estimation of their impacts. The team is structured into three thematic poles:

A Transition Ecology pole focused on public policies in favor of ecological transition in commercial services. In this role, the pole is involved in: (i) greening private fleets (annual incentive tax, over-amortization of clean heavy goods vehicles, support schemes for electrification, etc.); (ii) energy renovation of buildings (energy certificates – CEE, MaPrimeRénov’, etc.); (iii) adaptation of companies to climate change.

A Local Economy pole responsible for the design of public policies related to: (i) trade, crafts, and local services (commercial zoning, taxation of trade, reuse and repair, etc.) taking into account competitive dynamics; (ii) personal services, particularly support schemes for home employment (tax credit, immediate advance of tax credit, etc.); (iii) business services to foster the competitiveness of the French economy.

A Tourism pole tasked with the economic analysis of the tourism sector. Its work focuses on: (i) evaluating the economic impact of sports events (2024 and 2030 Winter Olympics); (ii) policies for decarbonizing the tourism sector and developing sustainable tourism; (iii) attractiveness and economic development issues of territories linked to tourism.

The project director must have strong skills in quantitative analysis, particularly in econometrics and data processing, as well as a deep understanding of economic theory, essential to guide the team’s work, assess the robustness of the methods used, and ensure the scientific quality of the analyses produced. He or she works closely with the sectoral teams of the DGE to inform the design, monitoring, and evaluation of public policies. He or she also develops partnerships with key institutional actors on economic issues, particularly the Directorate General for Treasury, DARES, High Commission for Strategy and Planning, ADEME, and I4CE, as well as with laboratories and academic researchers. Finally, he or she contributes to the dissemination of the economic work of the direction by piloting the publication of the “Théma de la DGE” collections and organizing the “Economics and Enterprises” seminars, thus promoting the spread of analyses, scientific debate, and dialogue between administration, researchers, and economic actors.
