Job description

About Us
Fanatics is building a leading global digital sports platform. We ignite the passions of global sports fans and maximize the presence and reach for our hundreds of sports partners globally by offering products and services across Fanatics Commerce, Fanatics Collectibles, and Fanatics Betting & Gaming, allowing sports fans to Buy, Collect, and Bet. Through the Fanatics platform, sports fans can buy licensed fan gear, jerseys, lifestyle and streetwear products, headwear, and hardgoods; collect physical and digital trading cards, sports memorabilia, and other digital assets; and bet as the company builds its Sportsbook and iGaming platform. Fanatics has an established database of over 100 million global sports fans; a global partner network with approximately 900 sports properties, including major national and international professional sports leagues, players associations, teams, colleges, college conferences and retail partners, 2,500 athletes and celebrities, and 200 exclusive athletes; and over 2,000 retail locations, including its Lids retail stores. Our more than 22,000 employees are committed to relentlessly enhancing the fan experience and delighting sports fans globally.
Location: Denver or New York | Reports To: Sr. Manager, Ops Analytics & Strategy
Overview
As an Operations Data Analyst at Fanatics Betting & Gaming, you are on the front lines of how the Customer Operations Team understands its own performance. This role sits within the Analytics & AI Enablement team and is the connective tissue between the data and the decision: you'll build and own the analytical foundations that Ops leaders across Customer Support, Fraud, Payments, and WFM rely on, and then you'll translate what it means, guide recommendations, and align stakeholders on what to do next.
Technical depth alone isn't enough for this seat. We need someone who's as strong in SQL as they are at turning that analysis into a clear, persuasive narrative and building real working relationships across a fast-moving, cross-functional organization. Think less "analyst who reports numbers" and more "operator who happens to be excellent with data."
Responsibilities
Strategic Storytelling & Stakeholder Communication
  • Translate complex, sometimes messy data into a clear point of view with actionable recommendations Ops teams can use
  • Present findings and proposals directly to Ops leaders and senior stakeholders with confidence and polish
  • Build genuine working relationships across Payments, Fraud, Product, WFM, and CX - you're a collaborator first, not just a data provider.
  • Read the room: know when a stakeholder needs the executive summary versus the full methodology, and adjust accordingly.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects with clear, consistent communication to stakeholders and leadership.
Analytical Ownership & SQL Fluency
  • Own your domain end-to-end: build the pipelines, maintain the dashboards, and surface the insights before anyone has to ask.
  • Write, QA, and optimize complex SQL independently - comfortable with SQL is a must-have
  • Proactively catch data quality issues and resolve them (or escalate them) before they surface in leadership reporting.
  • Deprecate manual, one-off reporting in favor of automated, always-on solutions.
  • Autonomously drive short and long-term projects from problem definition through execution, with a strong bias toward action.
AI & Automation Enablement
  • Support the Ops AI roadmap - pulling data, building the business case, and validating the data foundation before a build kicks off.
  • Track and report on AI agent performance post-deployment against top-line Ops goals.
  • Build lightweight alerting on critical Ops metrics to reduce reactive firefighting.
Skills and Qualifications
Required
  • 2-4 years of experience in Strategy, Consulting, Strategic Operations, or a closely related analytical role.
  • Strong hands-on SQL skills - able to write, QA, and optimize complex queries independently.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership.
  • A natural problem solver with a strong bias toward action and a track record of driving things to completion.
  • Empathetic team player who works effectively across functions and builds trust quickly with new stakeholders.
  • Curious, fast learner who's genuinely interested in the sports betting / iGaming space.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous, hyper-growth environment where priorities shift.
Preferred
  • Experience building or maintaining dashboards in Sigma, Tableau, or a comparable BI tool.
  • Familiarity with DBT or a similar data transformation framework.
  • Exposure to AI/ML-adjacent workflows, agent builds, or automation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with operational KPIs across customer support, fraud, payments, or workforce management.
  • Experience with Python or a similar scripting language for data manipulation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Analytics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
