Job Overview:

Business Intelligence (BI) supports the business with data, reports and analytics ranging from operational to strategic, for monitoring, gaining insight and improving business performance.

The role of a Business Intelligence Analyst Level 3 is to elicit, analyze and validate the advanced and complex BI needs of the business. This includes interviewing stakeholders, gathering, and compiling user requirements to understand the solutions they need. The BI Analyst will apply communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to present the right data in the right format to help the business make the right decision.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Keep up to date with functionality and advanced features of Cognos / MicroStrategy tools
  • Acquire knowledge of business processes and source data
  • Receive requests from the business and prioritize accordingly
  • Research and identify the key business metrics and KPIs that will be needed for the report
  • Lead storyboarding sessions to assist business users in defining requirements
  • Document the business initiatives and deliverables of the request
  • Test and validate the deliverable to ensure it is accurate and ready for the user
  • Address issues and resolve requests for additional information
  • Maintain clear and open line of communication with business users
  • Provide guidance and support to junior BI analysts
  • Take ownership of projects
  • Adhere to B&H policies and procedures including data security/privacy guidelines

Preferred Education, Experience and Licenses:

  • 8+ years using Cognos / MicroStrategy or other BI tools
  • Expert understanding of Business Intelligence and data science
  • Advanced SQL coding language expertise
  • Knowledge of python coding language
  • Expert understanding of Data Warehouse design and data models
