Sports App information

What is a sports app?

A Sports App is a mobile or web application designed to provide sports-related information, updates, and interactive features to users. These apps can offer live scores, news, schedules, player statistics, and even live streaming of games. Some Sports Apps allow users to follow their favorite teams, participate in fantasy sports, or watch video highlights. They are popular among sports enthusiasts who want instant access to the latest happenings in the sports world. The goal is to enhance the fan experience by delivering real-time content and personalized features.

What are some typical challenges faced by a product manager working on a sports app?

Product managers in the sports app sector often face challenges such as balancing real-time data integration with app performance, ensuring user engagement during off-seasons, and keeping up with rapidly changing sports trends and user expectations. They frequently coordinate with developers, designers, data analysts, and marketing teams to deliver seamless user experiences while navigating tight deadlines around major sporting events. Adapting to feedback and quickly iterating features are also key parts of the role, given the dynamic nature of sports fans' interests.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a sports app developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Sports App Developer, you need expertise in mobile development (iOS/Android), proficiency in programming languages like Swift or Kotlin, and a strong understanding of sports data integration. Familiarity with APIs, cloud services, and real-time data streaming platforms is often required, along with experience using development tools like Xcode or Android Studio. Creativity, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for collaborating with designers and stakeholders. These combined skills ensure the delivery of engaging, reliable, and user-friendly sports applications that meet both technical and user needs.

Job description

Multnomah Athletic Club is more than Portland's most legendary hub of sports and socializing. It's like a small city unto itself. Where else can you find four restaurants, three pools, a climbing gym, state-of-the-art studios and fitness suite, a complex of racquet sport courts, massage offerings, a boutique, plus a grand ballroom and variety of events spaces all in one place? To say that every employee of MAC has room to move is an understatement almost as big as MAC's 600,000 square feet of recreational possibilities.
Want a career with a future? A campus worth exploring? A one-of-a-kind community on which you can have a direct impact? MAC is all of those things and more.
The Role
Are you a skilled mixologist with a passion for creating unique and delightful beverages? We're on the lookout for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Restaurant Bartender, specifically in our Sports Pub. You'll be at the heart of our vibrant dining experience. Your role involves not just mixing drinks but creating memorable moments for our members and guests. Bring your creativity, expertise, and positive energy to our team and be part of a dynamic environment where every pour tells a story.
What You'll Do
  • Bar Operations: Oversee daily operations of the Sports Pub (and our other restaurants as needed) ensuring all areas meet departmental service standards.
  • Program Development: Partner with the Bar Supervisor to create and refine beverage programs and seasonal cocktail menus.
  • Team Leadership: Support training efforts and foster a culture of performance and accountability.
  • Equipment & Maintenance: Ensure bar equipment is properly maintained, and report any technical or safety issues promptly, keep all bars, storage rooms, and coolers clean, orderly, and fully stocked.
  • Inventory & Supplies: Submit supply requisitions, receive and store deliveries, and assist with monthly inventory across all outlets.
  • Cost Control: Support pour cost management through proper pouring techniques and adherence to standards.
  • Staff Education: Help facilitate beer, wine, and spirits training for restaurant staff as needed.
  • Club Support: Assist the Banquet and Catering teams during major Club events and holidays.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring
  • Experience: At least 2 years of full-service bartending experience.
  • Certifications: Valid OLCC and food handler permits.
  • Knowledge: Solid grasp of bar operations, bartending best practices, and inventory systems.
  • Strength & Stamina: Comfortable standing, bending, lifting, and moving heavy items (up to 150 lbs.) during long shifts.
  • Tools of the Trade: Familiarity with standard bar equipment (carts, hand trucks, wine openers, blenders, etc.).
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills; approachable and team-oriented.
  • Work Ethic: Dependable, proactive, and ready to pitch in wherever needed.
  • Attitude: A fresh, upbeat presence and a genuine passion for delivering great service to guests and members.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Available for shifts weekdays, weekdays, nights, and holidays.

What You'll Gain
At Multnomah Athletic Club, we believe in taking care of our team members. We offer a wide range of benefits to ensure your well-being, both inside and outside the club. Here's what's in it for you:
  • Full-time employees: Enjoy medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Facility access: Free access to our exercise room and classes, climbing gym, and pools.
  • Convenience: Free parking and discounted public transportation passes.
  • Retirement: Participate in our 401(k) program with an employer match.
  • Well-being: Access our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and the Headspace wellness app for free.
  • Perks: Enjoy discounts on club services and meals.

If you're ready to shake up the scene and contribute to an exceptional dining experience, apply now to become a valued member of the Multnomah Athletic Club as a Restaurant Bartender! #LI-Onsite
