Job description

Organization: Harvest Preparatory Academy
Position: Seasonal Sports Coach
Season Duration: Start date varies (February 3rd - March 3rd) through May 11th, 2025
Location: Yuma, AZ (Travel to Phoenix required)
Open Coaching Positions:
  • MS Boys Basketball Assistant Coach
  • MS Boys Assistant Soccer Coach
  • HS Boys Baseball Assistant Coach
  • MS Girls Soccer Head Coach
  • HS Coed Assistant Soccer Coach
  • HS Girls Soccer Assistant Coach

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the designated team, providing coaching, mentoring, and guidance during practices and games.
  • Plan, organize, and conduct practices according to the provided schedule.
  • Develop and implement effective training programs to enhance players' skills, teamwork, and overall performance.
  • Attend and support all scheduled games, providing leadership and encouragement.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all team members during practices and games.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and character development.
  • Collaborate with school staff, parents, and administrators to address any concerns and ensure effective communication.
  • Uphold the values and mission of Harvest Preparatory Academy both on and off the field/court.

Requirements:
  • Previous experience in coaching, preferably at the middle school or high school level.
  • Knowledge of the relevant sport's rules, strategies, and techniques.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to reach their full potential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to travel to Phoenix for games and practices up to 2 times per week.
  • Willingness to obtain coaching certification, such as the NFHS Coaches Certification course.
  • Must be able to drive for away games and practices as needed.
  • Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card (we can assist you with the application process).

Schedule:
  • Practices: Monday to Friday, 2:40 pm - 5:30 pm; Wednesday practices from 1:30 pm - 5:30 pm (except game days).
  • Games: Weekday evenings (times may vary).
  • Travel: Travel to Phoenix required up to 2 times per week for games and practices.

Compensation:
  • Stipend ranges from $750 to $1,000 for the season (depending on the position).
