SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR โ€“ Crown Sports Center

LOCATION: Fruitland, MD

DEPARTMENT: GUEST SERVICES

REPORTS TO: CHILDCARE MANAGER

STATUS: PART-TIME (SEASONAL NON-EXEMPT)

POSTION SUMMARY:

The Summer Camp Counselor position assists in daily camp operations such as scheduling, supervision, and program development and implementation.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Organize and maintain updated camper forms for each week
  • Supervise groups of campers and counselors each day
  • Instruct and coach children while they engage in group and individual sports activities
  • Maintain effective discipline and safety procedures during camp
  • Assist with morning drop-off and check-in as well as afternoon pick-up and sign-out
  • Assist other counselors/coaches with camp duties

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work with a wide variety of children, ages from 7-12
  • Flexible work schedule and regular attendance is necessary
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to maintain focus in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Must be detail-orientated and have outstanding organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in difficult and stressful situations
  • Must be respectful and friendly to our athletes, guests, and fellow staff
  • Must work well with others
  • Must take personal initiative for the betterment of the team and facility
  • Commitment to the safety and wellbeing of others
  • Able to enter information on a computer

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds waist high
  • Will be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop or bend
  • Must be able to identify problems and/or hazards and resolve or report to management
  • Must comply with safety and health code standards
  • Facility has intermittent noise
  • Able to run/walk as needed

PREFERRED:

  • CPR/First Aid Certified
  • Camp experience
  • Experience organizing youth activities
  • Customer service and/or staff management experience
