They are proficient in creating complex searches, dashboards, alerts, and reports, and often help organizations derive insights from large volumes of data. Power Users typically have access to more features than standard users, such as creating knowledge objects and managing data models, but less access than Splunk administrators. They play a crucial role in maximizing the value of Splunk within an organization by building efficient queries and sharing actionable insights with teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Splunk Power User, and why are they important?

Job description

The application window is expected to close on: 09/29/2026
This is a hybrid role based out of Cisco / Splunk's San Jose office.
Meet the Team
The Splunk UI team is a frontend engineering workstream within Splunk Security. We build polished, cloud-delivered web experiences and partner across product, design, platform, and engineering to deliver high-impact capabilities! The team moves quickly, values practical collaboration, and focuses on turning complex requirements into clear, reliable user experiences.
Your Impact
Join the Splunk workstream to shape and deliver modern web experiences for Splunk Security. You will lead sophisticated React and TypeScript work, collaborate across product and engineering teams, and help translate evolving requirements into intuitive, scalable interfaces! This role combines hands-on architecture and delivery with technical leadership in a fast paced program.
As a Lead Frontend Engineer on Splunk UI, you will:
  • Lead the design and delivery of intuitive, accessible React and TypeScript experiences for complex enterprise workflows.
  • Build and evolve scalable frontend architecture, including independently deployable or micro-frontend surfaces where appropriate.
  • Partner with product, design, backend, platform, and AI teams to clarify user flows, integration needs, and interaction design before implementation, and resolve delivery dependencies.
  • Integrate shared platform capabilities and service-backed features into cohesive, reliable user experiences.
  • Adopt and help mature enterprise design systems, applying shared patterns thoughtfully and favoring reusable components over one-off solutions.
  • Drive quality and operational readiness through unit and end-to-end testing, code review, performance work, and effective troubleshooting across frontend and integration boundaries.
  • Help lead release, refactoring, and stabilization efforts; mentor engineers through high-quality technical feedback; and contribute to collaborative planning.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of related experience, Master's degree with 6+ years of related experience, or PhD with 3+ years of related experience.
  • 8+ years of frontend development experience building production-grade web applications, including sophisticated enterprise workflows.
  • Experience in React, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript (ES6+), with a proven ability to translate complex product requirements into maintainable frontend architecture.
  • Experience working in large-scale monorepos and with package managers such as pnpm or Yarn workspaces; ability to establish and maintain sound frontend boundaries and shared patterns.
  • Professional work experience with micro-frontend patterns, Module Federation, and scalable frontend architecture, including the tradeoffs of integrating shared capabilities into a host application.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience adopting or contributing to an enterprise design system, with sound judgment about when to reuse platform components versus build new patterns.
  • Strong component-driven development skills, including design systems, accessibility, responsive UI, and thoughtful interaction design for data-rich enterprise workflows.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, and Playwright, plus CI/CD practices that support reliable releases.
  • Experience with complex data-rich UI patterns such as routing, tables, filtering, drill-downs, timelines, and workflow-oriented user experiences.
  • Experience troubleshooting web experiences across browser, API, authentication, and deployment boundaries; familiarity with analytics, monitoring, or observability tools is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of REST APIs and the ability to collaborate closely with service owners on integration contracts and API readiness.
  • Interest in AI-assisted user experiences, balanced with a rigorous focus on usability, reliability, and user trust.
  • Experience leading through code review, technical planning, and mentoring, and helping a frontend team improve shared tooling, documentation, and engineering practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to align product, design, and engineering stakeholders, surface risks early, and move delivery forward in a fast-paced environment.
