Job description

The Systems Engineer II supports NSWC Crane Code GXP and Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) model-based systems engineering activities. This Key Personnel position applies systems engineering and SysML methods to develop, maintain, analyze, and verify digital engineering artifacts supporting Strategic Weapon System development, acquisition, integration, test, and lifecycle sustainment. Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain SysML-based Descriptive System Models, Integrated Verification Models, requirements models, interface artifacts, and supporting digital-engineering products in accordance with SSP modeling standards and ontology profiles. Support requirements development, allocation, traceability, validation, and verification across descriptive models, technical branch models, simulations, and system-level test artifacts. Assist with systems architecture, design analysis, interface management, risk and opportunity management, and verification planning throughout the acquisition lifecycle. Execute and document systems engineering processes, detailed verification procedures, and model integration activities for SSP command and Strategic Weapon System upgrade programs. Maintain configuration control of models, simulations, technical data, verification evidence, and engineering baselines using approved SSP processes and tools. Collaborate with SSP offices, NSWC Crane technical branches, prime contractors, and system-integration and test working groups to resolve model, requirements, and interface issues. Support technical reviews and milestone events by developing model views, engineering data, analyses, and objective evidence needed to satisfy entrance and exit criteria. Contribute to system-level simulation, hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop analysis, test planning, and evaluation of requirements-satisfaction evidence. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline. At least three years of professional systems engineering experience. Demonstrated experience with SysML modeling, systems engineering, requirements, design, analysis, verification, and simulation. Active U.S. Government Secret clearance at the time of award and ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance. Ability to work onsite at NSWC Crane and coordinate effectively within multidisciplinary Government–contractor teams. Preferred Qualifications: Master of Science in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Physics, or another technical discipline. Four or more years of relevant professional experience. Experience applying SysML across requirements, design, analysis, verification, and simulation activities. Ship or submarine weapon-system experience, particularly within Navy or SSP environments.
