Applied Research Solutions (ARS) is seeking a dynamic Cloud Systems Administrator with strong experience in Azure Government environments to support an innovative, fastpaced multidomain technology program. This role focuses on cloud infrastructure operations, container platform support, virtualized desktop environments, and secure configuration management. You will collaborate closely with development, security, and operations teams to ensure our cloud environments remain secure, compliant, and highly available.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support mission systems running in Azure Government, including VMs, storage, networking, Azure AD/Entra ID, and resource policies
  • Support Administration of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments including host pools, session hosts, and application delivery for Windows and Linux
  • Support and operate Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), including cluster lifecycle management, node pools, identity integration, networking, and upgrades
  • Manage Azure Container Registry (ACR) including image lifecycle, scanning, and integration with CI/CD pipelines
  • Construct and maintain STIG compliant Windows and Linux images for use across Azure Gov environments
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain core cloud resources using Infrastructure-as-Code (ARM/Bicep, Terraform) and automation tools such as Gitlab
  • Implement and maintain Azure security controls including identity management, conditional access, RBAC, and resource governance
  • Support RMF/ATO sustainment tasks by documenting system configurations, updating security artifacts, and ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards
  • Develop documentation and best practices to drive consistent and secure platform usage
  • Participate in cross disciplinary efforts spanning cybersecurity, networking, software development, systems administration, and operational support
  • Learn new technologies, frameworks, and cloud-native operational procedures as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications / Technical Experience Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Active TS/SCI or ability/willingness to obtain
  • 5+ years of cloud administration experience, preferably in Azure Government
  • Experience with AKS, containerization, and ACR
  • Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments
  • Familiarity with monitoring solutions (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Splunk, Prometheus)
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools: GitLab, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Security+ or other DoD 8570 IAM Level II certification required
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to thrive as part of a small, fastmoving team
  • Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, and innovation skills
