Role Overview
As a Senior Hybrid Azure Cloud Engineer, you will be a key contributor to transforming our technical landscape. This is a senior role focused on leading modernization efforts, with a heavy emphasis on automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). You will not be responsible for day-to-day ticket queues but will instead handle complex incidents and escalations, bringing outside best practices to modernize operations and mentor junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced Tier 3 technical infrastructure, DevOps, and engineering support for complex issues escalated from other teams.
  • Serve as a primary escalation point for Azure implementation-related challenges and complex incidents.
  • Lead modernization efforts, focusing on automation, IaC (Terraform, scripting), and bringing DevOps capabilities to the team.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance to ensure uptime, reliability, and compliance with service level agreements.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure with Terraform, Ansible, or Azure Resource Manager templates.
  • Contribute to documentation, automation scripts, and internal knowledge sharing to drive continuous improvement.
  • Mentor junior staff and help move the team toward self-sufficiency and reduced reliance on engineering.
  • Participate in new feature development from an implementation perspective.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Experience: 8+ years of cloud engineering experience, with at least 4 years working in Azure environments. Hands-on experience supporting Azure cloud environments in a hybrid model (on-premise and cloud) is required.
Technical Skills:
  • Strong Windows Server administration, including Server OS, patching, file systems, and DFS.
  • Extensive hands-on expertise with Azure services such as Virtual Machines, Functions, Virtual Networks, Azure Active Directory, AKS, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform, Ansible, or ARM templates.
  • Proven automation and scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • In-depth understanding of hyperconverged technologies, networking, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Thorough knowledge of CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools such as Splunk, PagerDuty, or Azure portals.

Soft Skills:
  • Self-driven, takes ownership, and possesses leadership skills.
  • Clear communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with a strategic mindset.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert or DevOps Engineer Expert certification.
