OVERVIEW: The Spin Instructor will lead high-energy indoor cycling classes, focusing on motivating members through structured, safe, and effective rides that improve cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, and overall fitness. They should be able to teach classes suitable for all levels, from beginners to advanced cyclists. Additional group exercise instruction and personal training services are encouraged but not required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Member Experience:
• Lead engaging, safe, and motivating indoor cycling classes for a variety of skill levels, typically lasting 45-60 minutes.
• Adapt rides to accommodate different fitness levels, including modifications for beginners, seniors, or those with physical limitations.
• Create a positive and energetic atmosphere that encourages members to push their limits and enjoy the ride.
• Foster a welcoming environment by engaging with members during classes and providing encouragement and feedback.
Studio Operations:
• Arrive 10 minutes prior to class start time to set up bikes and music.
• Ensure bikes and studio are clean and organized before and after each class.
• Maintain equipment and studio cleanliness and safety standards.
Member Engagement:
• Build relationships with members to promote loyalty and ongoing participation.
• Offer modifications and progressions to accommodate individual needs and fitness levels.
Team Commitment:
• Attend department meetings and participate in staff activities.
• Be available to substitute classes, especially during peak seasons (November through May), including weekends and holidays as needed.
COMPETENCIES - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
• Must have a good working knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING:
• Certified Indoor Cycling Instructor (e.g., Spinning, RPM, or similar certification).
• CPR/AED Certification required.
• Preferably a minimum of 2 years' experience leading indoor cycling classes.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and safe cycling techniques.
