For over 60 years we have curated our global network of premium growers and distributors in order to offer our customers unrivaled quality and selection. Our goal is to be the trusted resource for fresh flavors and shared culinary experiences in kitchens around the world. We have been featured in The New York Times, Food & Wine and Bon Appetit and named a favorite by celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Alton Brown and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. We have recently started to grow into the grocery sales channel and can now be found in stores like The Fresh Market, Mariano's and Fresh Thyme.


The Spice House is looking for a Sales Team Leader who is passionate about spices and results-oriented. This individual will inspire and lead our team of Spice Merchants towards achieving sales targets through exceptional customer experiences. They will demonstrate an excellent work ethic, a willingness to go the extra mile, and an eagerness to grow in leadership responsibility at the company.


Responsibilities:

  • Drive Sales Performance: Take ownership of both personal and store sales results by proactively engaging in intentional selling behaviors, leveraging customer insights, and identifying opportunities to increase transactions, average order value, and overall revenue.
  • Lead and Mentor the Team: Inspire, coach, and develop the Spice Merchant team to consistently achieve and exceed store KPI goals. Provide constructive feedback, model best practices, and foster a culture of accountability, growth, and excellence.
  • Customer Engagement & Problem Solving: Deliver exceptional customer experiences by understanding individual preferences and needs, offering tailored product recommendations, and resolving internal or external challenges with confidence and professionalism.
  • Positive Leadership & Culture: Demonstrate energy, initiative, and a solutions-oriented mindset that motivates the team, reinforces our brand culture, and supports a positive work environment.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize sales data, trends, and performance metrics to identify opportunities, address gaps, and implement strategies that drive measurable results.
  • Operational Excellence: Support daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, inventory management, and POS execution, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company standards.
  • Collaboration & Store Presentation: Partner with fellow team members to maintain a visually appealing, organized, and fully stocked sales floor. Lead by example to uphold high standards of store presentation and operational discipline.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years retail experience and/or relatable experience; store leadership, team lead or supervisory experience preferred
  • Minimum 2-3 years supporting and leading sales techniques that drove revenue growth in a retail or relatable role
  • Proficient in computer skills and related technologies
  • Friendly, outgoing demeanor with a strong commitment to customer service - You genuinely like to connect with people!
  • Ability to express oneself clearly and persuasively when connecting with customers and making sales
  • Calm, professional and able to problem solve
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, walk and stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be willing to work weekends
