Description
The Case Speech Laboratory (CSL) of Hofstra University, directed by Dr. Julie Case, is hiring a part-time speech language pathologist to work on a clinical research project beginning September 1, 2026. The speech language pathologist (SLP) will be involved in a multi-site pooled analysis of clinical data from three different randomized controlled trials that tested Dynamic Temporal Tactile Cueing (DTTC) treatment outcomes in children with childhood apraxia of speech (CAS). The SLP will perform high-level analyses of these data and will be required to possess specific expertise in the assessment motor-based speech sound disorders across a range of varied clinical profiles. This is a part-time position requiring up to 6.25 hours per week. This appointment will be for two years.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Segmental and suprasegmental analysis of assessment data for up to 109 participants including; single-word assessments, dynamic motor-speech examination, and multisyllabic word production.
  • Phonetic and phonotactic coding of probe data gathered before, during, and following DTTC treatment for up to 109 participants including coding of specified features related to building a prototype of an automated treatment target selection tool.
  • Supervises student coding of session data, including time usage, session density, and clinician/child engagement.
  • Meets with the research team over the course of the study.

Qualifications
  • Speech-Language Pathologist with certification from the American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • A minimum of 2 years clinical experience with children with motor speech disorders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with dynamic assessment of pediatric motor speech disorders.
  • Previous experience with auditory-perceptual analyses for children with motor speech disorders.

$64.00 per hour
