The Team
The firm is seeking to expand its Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) -Technology Industry Group team. With more than 10,000 professionals across six continents, A&M draws on a strong operational heritage and a hands-on approach. Technology Industry Group is a growing business targeting high growth in the next 2-4 years.
A&M's Private Equity Performance Improvement Services (PEPI) practice, with offices throughout the US, focuses on serving upper middle market and large cap private equity firms who have engaged A&M to help improve operating results at their portfolio companies. The companies we assess are in the upper middle market 50 million to 1 billion plus range.
How you will contribute
Our Technology Industry Group offering brings a structured and disciplined approach to create and capture value. We provide corporate and equity buyers with a broad continuum of knowledge and tools for performance management, mergers, acquisitions, carve-outs, joint ventures and alliances.
The team works across the full spectrum of the deal and company lifecycle from pre-deal technology, operational and synergy reviews, through 'Day-1' planning, to post-deal implementations, and performance improvement. Our projects often include evaluation of, or initiatives related to product and technology functions across the deal and company lifecycle, which requires an understanding of the product roadmap and portfolio, architecture, and SDLC processes.
Engagement types and responsibilities include:
  • Assess product strategy, roadmap, and portfolio mix to ensure alignment with business objectives and market opportunities. This includes identifying gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for rationalization or expansion.
  • Complete product feature parity assessments and develop recommended product integration strategy for M&A activity for competitor companies
  • Assess product team structures, roles, and interaction models to evaluate collaboration, agility, and accountability, and recommend improvements for scaling and efficiency.
  • Evaluate KPIs, OKRs, and analytics frameworks that measure product success, customer impact, and ROI. Examine decision making processes to see if they are data-driven and tied to measurable outcomes.
  • Evaluate and/or conduct market analysis, competitive benchmarking, and customer feedback reviews to validate product-market fit and identify innovation opportunities. Evaluate offerings to determine differentiation and alignment with user/market needs.

Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years in roles such as Product Manager, Group Product Manager, Director of Product, or R&D Strategy/Operations Lead preferably in mid to large software, semiconductor company
  • Exposure to private equity sponsors, portfolio companies, or related transaction / merger integration is a bonus
  • Proven experience in building or evaluating product roadmaps, prioritizing features, and aligning engineering spend with strategic goals. Experience contributing to or leading R&D or product assessments, whether internally (e.g., roadmap rationalization, OKR planning) or externally (e.g., vendor evaluations, M&A integration planning
  • Strong understanding of cross-functional teamwork required to deliver high-quality features on time and within scope
  • Strong system design acumen, with experience leading and evaluating technical and product interviews
  • Hands-on knowledge of modern cloud architecture, including containerization, event-driven systems, streaming data pipelines, and distributed data stores
  • Ability to analyze R&D spend patterns (headcount, vendor costs, cloud spend, tooling, etc.) and link them to innovation or revenue outcomes.
  • Familiarity with Agile SDLC, DevOps practices, and tooling (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, SAST/DAST)
  • Deep functional expertise in one or more of the following areas is a bonus:
    • Product or Technical Program Management, CTO advisory, or strategic engineering leadership
    • R&D merger integration and carve-out including Business / IT transformation program / project management (e.g., ERP)
    • Understanding of SaaS business models, including ARR growth levers, customer adoption metrics, and product-led growth strategies
    • Product strategy and performance improvement, including cost-reduction initiatives
    • Private Equity Advisory around Product and R&D functions
  • Comfortable engaging with senior R&D leadership and clearly articulating technical findings to executive and private equity stakeholders
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field experience; MBA preferred
  • Team-oriented, adaptable, curious, and quick learner
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; excellent communication abilities
  • Willing to travel up to 25%

The base salary range is $100,000 - $170,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
