Required:
  • Complete and submitted Frontier Academy online application
  • Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English
  • Must pass Pre-Employment/Post-Offer Physical Examination; required upon hire
  • Currently hold a valid Colorado Driver's License
  • Possess or obtain a Colorado Commercial Driver's License Class B with P and S endorsement no airbrake restriction within 30 days of hire
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC) required upon hire
  • Submit a current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR); required upon hire
  • Must maintain all required certifications throughout employment
  • First Aid and CPR Certification or be in training

JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
  • Responsible for the safe operation and basic maintenance of a vehicle transporting students to and from Frontier Academy for school-sponsored events, in accordance to policies and procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Perform daily pre-trip inspection on vehicle in accordance with CDOT
  • Performs a post-trip inspection at the end of each trip
  • Reports any problems found during the pre-trip inspection to the transportation director
  • Possess full knowledge of state laws regarding school bus operations and comply with all provisions of the CDOT and all rules prescribed by the Colorado Department of Education
  • Possess a full knowledge and comply with school policies regarding school bus operations
  • Maintains and promotes a professional and defensive driving attitude at all times
  • Reports immediately by telephone any emergencies, breakdowns, or days while in-route including student discipline problems
  • Effectively communicates in person during urgent and emergency situations.
  • Maintains discipline on school bus, including controlling noise level
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the bus, by sweeping the inside and washing the outside when needed
  • Attends all meetings and training sessions as required by the school
  • Must submit to Drug and Alcohol Testing and random testing throughout employment
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Submit to a Motor Vehicle Records check annually

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None

Work Environment/ Physical Demands
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends on an as needed basis
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Travel
  • Transportation of students and staff for school sponsored events and activities

  • Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students. Visual, auditory and ambulatory ability. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Conflict management skills. Strong organizational skills. Knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to perform the function of the position as outlined.
