Facilities & Infrastructure Engineer: Build the Foundation of Air Force Innovation!
Are you a highly skilled technical professional ready to design and construct the physical spaces where our nation's defense technology is born? We are seeking an engineering and infrastructure specialist to deliver full-spectrum facility solutions for the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) Software Directorate.
In this vital role, you will apply scientific, technical, and business techniques to engineer the agile environments of tomorrow. You won't just be managing buildings; you will be establishing the physical foundation, advanced utilities, and high-tech depot equipment that directly ensure the operational readiness and success of our elite software developers and engineers.
What you will accomplish:
- As a core facilities and infrastructure expert, your responsibilities will span technical design, project management, and business analysis. You will:
- Engineer the Environments of Tomorrow: Plan, program, and execute complex facility construction, repair, and maintenance projects, ensuring our laboratories and offices are optimized for cutting-edge software development.
- Integrate Advanced Depot Equipment: Specify, install, and maintain state-of-the-art automatic and programmable test equipment, advanced utilities, and vital ancillary systems necessary for high-tech depot operations.
- Drive Project Management from Concept to Completion: Lead full-lifecycle project management, including developing comprehensive business cases, performing accurate cost estimating, executing construction inspections, and establishing project protocols.
- Deploy Full-Spectrum Infrastructure Solutions: Build and maintain the physical foundation of today's mission, bridging the gap between traditional civil/facilities engineering and modern, highly secure digital environments.
- Support Workforce Readiness: Coordinate technical training, install specialized equipment, and provide continuous technical support to ensure our personnel are equipped with the resources and facilities needed to achieve mission success.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Work may occasionally require travel away from normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- May require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position.
- Obtain & maintain a Secret security clearance
- May act as project liaison with the Equipment Engineers or other design agencies as required
- The work may require intermittent lifting of up to 40lb.
Recruitment Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
1. Extensive working knowledge and ability in communicating both verbally and in writing in technical terms with architects and mechanical, civil, structural, and electrical engineers.
2. Ability to translate and convert technical requirements into understandable written language from which managers and laymen can understand.
3. Ability to creatively modify existing and/or standard practices and to adapt techniques, procedures, and equipment to solve a variety of technical and management problems is required.
4. Comprehensive knowledge of Government and Air Force contractual and funding rules, statutory regulations, relationships and administrative procedures involved in developing and procuring construction, depot equipment, services, technical studies, and engineering support.
5. Project management knowledge and experience, from concept to completion, for a broad range of facility and industrial projects.
6. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining material and personnel resources required to accomplish the mission.
7. Working knowledge in accessing and applying health, fire, safety, construction, engineering, and environmental requirements as outlined in applicable safety standards, regulations, and/or technical orders.
8. Knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods and procedures and skill in evaluating site, facility systems, and industrial process to record and develop comprehensive plans, estimates, and options to ensure continued facility integrity.
9. Skill in developing construction and equipment cost estimates using published cast data resources.
10. Skill in reading and understanding engineering drawings, use of symbols, terminology, and accepted standards; and the equipment facilities, and systems of civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural engineering disciplines using AutoCAD software.
