Job description

General Role and Responsibilities:

To assist the teacher, achieve teaching Objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the skill levels of the class as a whole.

General Skills and Qualifications:

•     High school diploma or equivalent (Special Ed. Aide)

•     Prior job experience preferred

•     Meet requirements to be highly qualified (Special Ed. Paraprofessional - Associates degree, 60 college credits or pass the Indiana Praxis test)

Specific Responsibilities in This Position:

·        To work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher

·        To assist the teacher in reinforcing materials or skills based on the understanding of individual students, their NEEDS, interest and abilities

·        Will help student’s master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teach to provide on-going skill development

·        To guide independent study, enrichment work and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher

·        To assist with the supervision of students

·        To participate in in-service training programs as assigned

·        To maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of all staff
