Overview
Are you detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about maintaining the highest standards of healthcare? We're seeking dedicated professionals to join our dynamic sterile processing team. In this role the individual is responsible for the process of decontamination, cleaning, processing, and the sterilization of supplies dispensed by the department. He/she assists with clerical duties and inventory/supply control. This person works under the direction of the Sterile Processing Coordinator and the Director of Surgical Services.
Responsibilities
  • Perform decontamination, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of medical instruments, equipment, and supplies according to established protocols and standards.
  • Inspect, assemble, and package instruments and equipment for sterilization, ensuring proper functionality and completeness.
  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including autoclaves, sonic cleaners, and gas sterilizers, following manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor sterilization processes, including time, temperature, and pressure, to ensure effectiveness and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes, equipment maintenance, and inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with surgical and nursing staff to ensure timely availability of sterile supplies and equipment for procedures.
  • Participate in quality assurance and infection control initiatives, including routine inspections and audits.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols at all times.
  • Attend training sessions and stay updated on new techniques, equipment, and regulations related to sterile processing.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred as well as knowledge of medical and surgical supplies.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions and protocols
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication with teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse staff members
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects and stand for extended periods
  • Commitment to maintain confidentiality and upholding ethical standards in patient care
  • Three years experience working in the sterile processing field in healthcare preferred.

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, additional education or certification in sterile processing preferred
