Job description

Job Purpose

The Account Executive drives sales and expands the reach of Bio-Techne's Spatial Biology product line within an assigned territory. The role focuses on providing cutting-edge solutions for visualizing, characterizing, and quantifying tissue transcriptomic profiles across single-cell biology, neuroscience, oncology, infectious disease, and gene therapy. The Account Executive executes territory plans, builds the customer base, develops scientific selling skills, and fosters innovation and collaboration to address customer needs and advance science.

Responsibilities

Performance Indicators

  • Quota attainment against territory revenue target.
  • New customer acquisition (new PIs, labs, and accounts) and pipeline coverage ratio.
  • CRM hygiene, forecast accuracy, and activity metrics.

Territory Planning and Execution

  • Develop and execute strategic territory and account-specific sales plans with manager guidance.
  • Conduct effective pre-call planning for customer meetings, including research on the institution, lab, and key stakeholders.
  • Spend an appropriate amount of time in the field with customers, weighted toward accounts with the highest revenue potential.

Prospecting and Pipeline Generation

  • Prospect and generate new customer leads with a hunter mentality through field visits, calls, email, and trade-show engagement.
  • Partner with internal partners to qualify inbound leads and convert them into active pipeline opportunities.
  • Accurately forecast sales, maintain Salesforce.com records, and manage the sales cycle from initial contact to close.

Scientific Selling and Customer Engagement

  • Deliver technical and scientific presentations on Spatial Biology Division products (RNAscope, BaseScope, miRNAscope, HiPlex, Multiomic, ProximityScope).
  • Consult with customers on Bio-Techne Spatial product portfolio applications and match solutions to customer workflows.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers at the bench, lab-head, and department levels.
  • Demonstrate scientific knowledge to drive a collaborative, consultative sales process.

Brand and Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Represent the Bio-Techne Spatial brand effectively in the marketplace.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Field Application Scientists, Marketing, Customer Service, and Product Management to address diverse customer needs.
  • Actively support team goals, share wins and lessons learned, and contribute to company success.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Molecular Biology or a related life science field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of field-based life science sales experience.
  • Experience selling into academic, government, biotech, or pharma research environments preferred.

Skills

  • Working knowledge of RNA sequencing, transcriptomics, in situ hybridization, and molecular biology fundamentals.
  • Goal-oriented, competitive, and persistent with a focus on new customer recruitment.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, efficient, and effective team player.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize workload across competing demands.
  • Proficient in Salesforce.com or similar CRM platforms.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily field-based with regular travel within the assigned territory (up to 60%).
  • Flexibility to work remotely as needed.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work aligned with customer availability, trade shows, or scientific events.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel extensively within the assigned territory (up to 60%).
