DESCRIPTION:

Join our collaborative sales team at Thermo Fisher Scientific and contribute as a Senior Technical Sales Specialist. You will increase revenue and build lasting relationships with customers while representing our comprehensive portfolio of scientific products and services. Working in a supportive environment that values achievement and innovation, you'll help enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.

How will you make an impact?
This field-based role is responsible for driving sales growth and market expansion of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s spatial imaging portfolio across academic, government, and industrial customers within the assigned territory. You will expand existing business, develop new opportunities, and achieve sales targets through strategic account engagement, participation in scientific events, effective prospecting, and strong customer relationships.  This role will be home based and requires the individual to be located in a major metro area within the Western United States, serving the assigned territory: Western United States and Canada.

What will you do:

  • Consistently achieve or exceed sales targets by maintaining existing business, prospecting to develop incremental business, and conducting cold calls to develop new business in assigned accounts.
  • Execute effective sales strategies, including prospecting, qualification, value-based selling, and closing.
  • Leverage product, application, and workflow knowledge to position solutions, deliver technical presentations and demonstrations, and drive customer adoption.
  • Manage sales opportunities through disciplined pipeline management, including forecasting, next steps, and close plans
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and engage key stakeholders across accounts
  • Participate in sales meetings, seminars, and trade shows
  • Collaborate with internal teams and channel partners to deliver results
  • Demonstrate strong technical understanding of spatial biology to drive engagement, sales growth and establish KOL relationships within the spatial imaging community

Operating Cadence and Standard Work:

  • Maintain a consistent operating rhythm to manage territory performance, including funnel management, account planning, and achieve KPI metrics.
  • Routinely update CRM (Salesforce) to ensure accurate forecasting, pipeline health, and visibility to business performance.
  • Prepare quarterly account and territory plans to define focused sales strategies and actions to achieve revenue targets, and mitigation plans to close gaps.
  • Share market insights, competitive intelligence, and best practices with internal stakeholders.

Who are we looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 6-8 years of work experience, preferably in laboratory/scientific industries, or 5 years of work experience with a graduate degree
  • Preferred Fields of Study: Life Sciences, Biology, Biochemistry or related scientific field
  • Strong technical understanding in the spatial biology field with the ability to understand and articulate customer applications and workflows
  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets in instrumentation, laboratory, or scientific sales
  • Demonstrated customer-first mindset to build relationships at all levels, solve problems and add value to support their research goals
  • Experience working in a matrixed, collaborative environment
  • Analytical and strategic planning capabilities
  • Positive, can-do attitude and ability to adapt to and embrace change
  • Highly motivated to hit sales goals, and take share from competitors
  • Fluency in English required; additional languages beneficial

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong business acumen with ability to translate data into actionable sales strategies

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Illinois is $110,000.00–$150,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
