Job description

JOB TITLE: Systems Support Analyst - GIS
REQUISITION: DIS00Z9
DEPARTMENT: Operations Support Services - Topeka General Office, F&M Service Center or other Evergy Location
LOCATION: Topeka, KS
Kansas City, MO
PAY RANGE: (Minimum - Midpoint)
System Support Analyst I: $54,400 - $68,000
System Support Analyst II: $66,600 - $83,200

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Additional hours as required.

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Under supervision, perform all aspects of updating and maintaining the Company's Geographic Information System (GIS) and Maximo databases. This includes:
    Posting and/or updating features of the GIS database
    Participating as a subject matter expert or leading special projects requiring spatial representation
    Collaborating with teams to align common spatial, mobile, and design components 
    Coordinating with the Change Management and Training function to deliver consistent documentation and support to the user community
    Develop and maintain automated processes, such as RPA, FME, Python and other programming languages.
    Produce and create data sets for internal and external customers
    Analysis of asset and location data
    Reporting and analysis of backlogged work to determine cause and resolution
    Analyzing auto-posted, templated work orders for common errors and/or opportunities for process improvement.
    Posting work orders, includes the review and analysis of associated information for accuracy and completeness and identifying opportunities for process improvement
    Ability to interpret CAD designs and apply changes into GIS
    Participate and give quality feedback in system testing, upgrades, and implementation of GIS and enhancements
    Respond to internal requests and provide technical support related to GIS and asset management systems

The qualified applicant would have the ability to utilize GIS techniques and applications to provide a better understanding of certain variables in given geographic locations. They would have the capability to extract data from GIS software and use varying analysis methods and tools to arrive at results.  

Education and Experience Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in Geography, Business, Computer Technology, or Engineering is preferred.  Requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in geography or GIS software, map interpretation, legal descriptions, electric utility knowledge, or technical services.  Knowledge and experience with, AUD, AutoCAD, ArcFM, and ESRI mapping software applications preferred.  

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
Position requires excellent knowledge of computer applications and related skills working with unrelated computer processes and methods.  Requires constructive thinking to analyze, interpret or evaluate data or issues and process them in an accurate and high-quality manner.

Familiarity with database programming languages such as SQL.
Analytical Mindset; familiarity with Statistics and Mathematical principles in order analyze large datasets to uncover patterns and form conclusions.

Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to present information to other work groups in a concise manner.  Prefer knowledge of the Company's GIS, CSS, Work Management, Outlook, and Office365 applications along with basics in word processing and spreadsheets.  Must be able to work and resolve work process issues utilizing analytical thinking, creative problem solving and sound reasoning. Good administrative and technical abilities to deal with large volumes of data and deal with multiple priorities and projects.  Must be able to process information in an orderly and timely manner, apply tact, diplomacy, reason and logic and recognize consequences or erroneous actions, concentrate on specific tasks and other required functions.

An excellent work performance record is required, including good attendance. Must demonstrate outstanding skills in interpersonal relations, self-motivation, organization and work effectively with others in a team environment and build relationships with all customers and work groups.

Licenses, Certificates, Bonding and/or Testing Required:
Must have a valid driver's license.

Working Conditions:
Office conditions with continual visual attention to performing work with a high degree of completeness, accuracy and quality. Occasional travel is required.
