MATH 250X: MATH FOR MOTION

Course description: This course explores linear systems and vectors, coordinates and spatial reasoning, and trigonometry for motion, interpolation, and time-based systems. Calculus experience not required.
Course goals subject to adjustment by instructor:
Students will learn fundamental vector math, basic linear algebra, and trigonometry. Students will also be introduced to coordinate systems and spatial reasoning; matrix math for transforms and hierarchy; relative versus absolute transforms; rotation order and issues like gimbal lock; and related mathematics to assist in visualizing and solving problems in real-time applications.

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in the teaching discipline or a master's degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).
  • Relevant experience teaching math at the secondary level or higher.
  • A repertoire of engaging teaching techniques that reaches out to a variety of learning styles.
  • Familiarity with digital technologies in teaching.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A terminal degree in math, physics, or engineering.
  • College level teaching experience.
  • Strong interest or background in an art and design school environment.
