Job description

Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Mechanic - Plant Assistant Supervisor is an exempt, on-site position for someone passionate about working with people and machines to ensure peak efficiency across all work. Experience in personal care and cosmetic manufacturing is preferred, but not required. The person in this role will oversee day-to-day facility needs, long-term preventive maintenance, occasional emergencies, and expansion planning. This person is a key member of the organization, collaborating primarily with the Plant Manager and various team members across all departments, including Production, Purchasing, Laboratory, Warehouse, Accounting, Human Resources, and the Company Owner.

The position requires broad experience and knowledge across many facets of industrial maintenance, including lean manufacturing, production, fabrication, and more. Whether it’s troubleshooting unforeseen machine malfunctions or maintaining and setting up our multiple manufacturing lines, you will be a “go-to” team member for machine operational guidance and setup. It is critical that the Plant Maintenance Supervisor adhere to the GMP ISO standard and other regulatory requirements.

This position is authorized to enter the Manufacturing Area.

Responsibilities:

  • Service and maintain equipment, including motors, compressors, boiler, chiller, DI water system, batch coders, conveyor systems, forklifts, refrigerators, and all production-related equipment.
  • Update and maintain machine service logs.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and service of all machinery.
  • Facility upkeep and troubleshooting of all mechanical breakdowns.
  • Overall Plant Maintenance inspections and consultations with the Plant Manager.
  • Work with the Plant Manager to establish all spare parts needs, and maintain the supply of the parts.
  • Establish relationships with vendors and local technical service providers under the direction of the Plant Manager.
  • Work closely with the Process Engineer to create and maintain service logs for all machinery.
  • Partner with Regulatory and Plant Manager to keep required documentation in preparation for audits.
  • Support HR with safety training and log Maintenance.
  • Work with the Plant Manager and Machine Operators to assess line setup efficiency as jobs change and develop ways to maximize throughput.
  • Assist with staging and setting up production lines for daily production.
  • Collaborate in the supervision of line workers when the Plant Manager is not present.
  • Train and follow SOPs for safety and Maintenance.
  • Provide plant employees with Safety Training.
  • Assist in keeping all Plant compliance paperwork up to date.
  • Observe all safety and quality procedures while completing the required duties.
  • Other duties as necessary and related

·Qualifications/Skills:

  • Requires a high school diploma, or advanced education or certification in a mechanical or technical field, plus one to three years of related experience.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English Preferred
  • Ability to learn computer programs, i.e., inventory manufacturing software, spreadsheets.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to perform mathematical operations in all units of measurement.

Physical Environment and Physical Requirements

Physically able to wear cleanroom/protective gowning and equipment, including but not limited to gowning, goggles, particle masks, face shields, and protective gloves. Use hearing protection and respirators (when required)

  • Able to lift 50 pounds,
  • Use hand tools and power tools, operate control panels, valves, and switches, and handle small components during troubleshooting.
  • Able to stoop, crouch, and bend; push and pull repetitively throughout the workday as required.
  • Climb Ladders, scaffolds, stairs, elevated platforms, and access confined spaces (pits, tanks, mechanical rooms)
  • Stand for long periods.
