Job description


BASE Instructor

LAMB is looking for professionals who are passionate about working with children and are excited about making a difference in their lives. Our BASE Instructor exhibits enthusiasm, a caring attitude, and a love of learning. Our teachers support developmentally appropriate academic and value curricula in PAZ and a safe environment.

LAMB’s Mission: To create a self-directed learning environment in which children build a foundation of knowledge essential for a lifetime of learning while developing bi-literacy in English and Spanish.     

Primary Purpose of the Job:

This dual role position works to support the successful implementation of our elementary academic program as well as to provide students in our Before and After School Enrichment (BASE) program opportunities to further develop their potential in an after school setting. During school hours, this person is responsible for assisting with classrooms and administrative duties. During BASE hours, the instructor is responsible for organizing and implementing after school activities. The position reports to the BASE Director.  

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Embrace and support the mission of the Latin American Montessori Bilingual Public Charter School

  • Provide a learning environment in which students with differing learning modalities may attain success

  • Maintain the welfare and safety of students by following school regulations and behavior policy

  • Participate in school activities: special events, field trips, workshops, among others 

  • Attend and participate in mandatory professional development sessions and meetings

  • Remain current with trends, techniques, and advances in technology that are applicable to the program

  • Support LAMB’s bilingual program by modeling first and second language for all students 

  • Other duties as assigned

Educational Aide

  • Oversee recess, lunch, and transitions during the school day

  • Support teachers and administrators during school hours as assigned 

  • Provide feedback to teachers about student behaviors, performance, or any observation relevant to the students

  • Cover for absent teachers when assigned

BASE Instructor

  • Plan and deliver enrichment activities for students participating in the program

  • Supervise students in the program and maintain a safe and enriching environment for all students

  • Report concerns regarding student behavior to the BASE Director

Qualifications 
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Fluency in Spanish required, bilingualism (English/Spanish) preferred

  • Experience working in a school setting with young children

  • Energetic, flexible, imaginative, and eager to work in a bilingual and multicultural public school

  • Experience planning and implementing extracurricular activities in a school or community-based setting

  • Ability to work with students of various abilities, including those with various identified exceptionalities

  • Possess the ability to work in a multicultural, bilingual environment

  • Submit necessary documents for a completed personnel file, including three references, diplomas, transcripts, and fingerprinting and clearance forms and meet health requirements, including TB test screening
