(AICI-SP) is seeking an Operations Manager to work out of our McLean, VA office with regular travel to overseas construction project sites in Qatar, Bahrain, South Africa, and other countries. An active U.S. Secret Level Security Clearance is required for this position. American International Contractors (Special Projects), Inc. PRIMARY FUNCTION: Plans, organizes, directs, and controls the activities of the Operations function of AICI-SP's multiple project sites and organizations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Project & Staff Management * Assist Project Managers with project execution. * Implement policies, procedures, and organizational structure for current projects within the framework of corporate policy. * Improve company performance by collecting, reviewing, and modifying as needed all reports related to the company's international operations (management, business plans, budgets, etc.). * Assist in the hiring of site personnel (Project Managers, Superintendents, Subcontractors, Skilled Labor, etc.) and reallocating current personnel to projects in cooperation with HR. * Monitor Project Management's achievement of target profit objectives, ensuring they are meeting or exceeding their goals as required by contract. * Mentor and coach personnel in their professional development and work execution through various training methods. * Monitor/ensure resourcing requirements of projects are met for materials, personnel, and equipment per project execution schedule/plan. * Coordinate and confer with corporate staff to resolve operations problems and difficulties. * Act as corporate executive for direct reporting by project level Quality Control and Safety Managers. * Foster and maintain good working relationships and promote good relations with the client and local/host nation governments, while ensuring subordinates do the same. * Develop and monitor the compliance program of the company, while considering all relevant laws and regulations as it pertains to health, safety, environmental stewardship, procurement, etc. (including, but not limited to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act). Client Relationships * Act as an AICI-SP representative and seek to build and maintain good relationships with existing and prospective clients (e.g. OBO and USACE, NAVFAC, large private companies) * Protect AICI-SP's interest and promote its image. * Act as one of AICI-SP's main points of contact from the U.S. with clients' U.S. offices. * For all areas, perform additional duties as assigned by the President. KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: * Must be authorized to work in the United States and have an active U.S. Secret level security clearance. * Four (4) year engineering or technical (or equivalent advanced degree) plus extensive experience (minimum 10 years) in the management of construction segments. * Advanced knowledge of the construction industry and company operations. * Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and analytical skills. * Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: * International construction industry experience interacting with various diverse cultures. * Experience as a project manager on several different projects large in scale ($100M+), cost, and complexity. * Design/build construction experience. * Experience working on contracts for U.S. Government clients (e.g. OBO, USACE) PHYSICAL JOB DEMANDS Reaching above and below, stooping, and bending. Lifting/carrying/moving 1 to 15 pounds of weight in the form of paper, boxes, files, etc. Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and perform specialized skills. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work out of the corporate and/or international operations office, with frequent travel to project sites.
