SOAR Orientation
Job Summary
The Student Assistant will support the SOAR Orientation as a Southern Ambassador on the Armstrong Campus beginning Fall 2026.
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.
Responsibilities

• Leads interactive and informative campus tours for prospective students and guests
• Delivers presentations and share personal student experiences in a professional and engaging manner
• Provides exceptional customer service to all visitors
• Assists with admissions events, including open houses, preview days, and special group visits
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of university programs, campus resources, and student life
• Represents the university with professionalism, enthusiasm, and school spirit
• Supports administrative tasks within the Office of Admissions as needed
• Fosters a positive environment for all campus visitors

Shift Specifics

• Up to 15 hours per week
• Flexible with schedule of availability
• Shifts available between 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Must be available for a least 2-3 shifts per week
• Attendance at mandatory training sessions and team meetings required
• Additional availability for special events, open houses, and recruitment program

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements

• Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience

• Strong communication and public speaking skill
• Experience in leadership, customer service, or student involvement
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable speaking to groups of varying sizes
• Knowledge of campus resources, student organizations, and academic programs
• Previous involvement in campus tours, orientation, or ambassador programs

Preferred Education

• Current undergraduate student enrolled at Georgia Southern University in good academic standing

Proposed Salary
$12.00 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
