SUMMARY:

The Manager of Sound and AV will provide support to all departments regarding all A/V and IT needs. The Manager of Sound and AV will also drive projects specific to these areas for the Information Technology department as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:

The Authority’s Deputy Director of Show Operations may designate various other activities. The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.   • Establishing applicable guidelines regarding accepted best practice techniques and standards relating to IT Service delivery and AV offerings.
  • Research and analyze emerging sound and AV trends and technologies through industry publications, trade shows, conferences, and site visits.
  • Review existing Sound and AV systems and make recommendations for additions and upgrades to Leadership.
  • Coordinate the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan.
  • Collaborate with the MCCA’s AV provider to ensure that equipment and services are up to date and meet requirements.
  • Verify that sound and AV performance meets established goals and industry standards.
  • Communicate all sound, AV and technical needs relative to projects to the appropriate team members and facilitate delivery of those needs.
  • Provide training and technical support for all sound and AV tools to end users as required.
  • Manage all POD Cast Studio operations up to but not limited to the maintenance and engineering of the studio.
  • Work with the Event Services teams and other departments to ensure that all client needs relating to sound, and AV are provided to customers.
  • Supports all AV and sound gear that is a part of the MCCA’s infrastructure up to but not limited to all life safety equipment using sound and AV.
  • Document any required post event reporting addressing issues relating to sound, AV and IT services and create action plans as necessary.
  • Manage the assigned staff as appropriate to support the goals and objectives of the MCCA.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Assisting in planning to develop and maintain effective Audio-Visual Technology budgets and provides oversight of same.
  • Prepares and maintains the Departmental Operations Manual describing the standard operating procedures.
  • Prepares work orders for system maintenance and changes
  • Develops and implements preventative maintenance policies and procedures pertaining to audio visual systems
  • and maintains all records pertaining to maintenance of equipment and systems.
  • Requisitions, equipment, supplies and maintains inventory.
  • Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications, and standards.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises the Sound Technician employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Supervision is provided by the Deputy Director of Show Operations and includes training, coaching, and performance evaluations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

3-5+ years of A/V experience including installation, design and operation.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with and motivate associates at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently, with strong organizational skills and flexibility in a team-oriented environment. A self-starter, highly motivated individual with planning skills.
  • Proven ability to solve problems in nonstandard and innovative ways.
