Job description

The Production Specialist at the North Carolina Education Lottery is responsible for supporting the organization’s internal and external communication efforts through high-quality video and photo production, multimedia storytelling, and digital content development. This role serves as a key creative and technical resource for capturing, editing, and delivering compelling visual content that aligns with organizational messaging, brand standards, and communication objectives. The ideal candidate is an imaginative storyteller with strong technical production capabilities who can independently manage the video and photo production lifecycle from planning and filming to editing and post-production.

Responsibilities:

Video Production & Content Creation

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute video production projects that share a compelling narrative from concept through completion by capturing high-quality video and photo for internal communications, executive messaging, employee engagement initiatives, training content, recruitment campaigns, organizational events, and external-facing communications
  • Conduct on-location and studio videography and photography including interviews, b-roll, live events, testimonials, and promotional content, and operate and maintain professional-grade video, audio, and lighting equipment to ensure production quality standards are met
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop creative concepts, shot lists, storyboards, scripts, and production timelines, and work with the Communications team to ensure all content adheres to organizational brand standards, communication strategies, and accessibility best practices

Video Editing & Post-Production

  • Edit raw video footage into polished, engaging, and dynamic content for multiple platforms and audiences
  • Produce short-form and long-form video content optimized for websites, internal communication channels, presentations, email campaigns, social media, and digital platforms
  • Apply motion graphics, transitions, lower thirds, title treatments, audio mixing, color correction, and visual enhancements to improve production quality and storytelling effectiveness
  • Manage post-production workflows including file organization, version control, rendering, and media asset management

Multimedia Communications Support

  • Support communication campaigns through multimedia content development, including video snippets, digital storytelling assets, and visual communication materials
  • Assist in creating content strategies that increase audience engagement and message effectiveness
  • Provide recommendations on video formats, production techniques, and emerging communication trends to enhance organizational storytelling
  • Partner cross-functionally with communications, marketing, human resources, leadership, and operational teams to understand messaging goals and deliver impactful content

Technical Production & Equipment Management

  • Set up and troubleshoot cameras, microphones, lighting, and production equipment for shoots and events
  • Maintain video production equipment and coordinate repairs or upgrades as needed
  • Manage digital media files, archives, and content libraries to ensure accessibility and organization
  • Stay current with evolving video production technology, editing software, multimedia trends, and best practices

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Production, Film, Journalism, Digital Media, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 1–3 years of professional experience in videography, video production, multimedia communications, or digital content creation
  • Demonstrated experience filming and editing professional-quality video content in a corporate, agency, communications, media, or production environment
  • Experience managing projects from concept development through final delivery

Video Production Equipment Experience

  • Proficiency in operating professional cameras (e.g., Sony, Canon, Blackmagic, Panasonic, or equivalent)
  • Experience with camera settings, composition, framing, exposure, white balance, and audio capture techniques
  • Knowledge of lighting setup and audio recording best practices, including lavalier microphones, shotgun microphones, and basic sound mixing
  • Experience with stabilizers, tripods, gimbals, and mobile production equipment preferred

Video Editing & Multimedia Software

  • Strong working knowledge of industry-standard video editing and creative tools, including:
  • Adobe Creative Cloud or comparable editing platforms

Additional Technical Competencies

  • Understanding of motion graphics, basic animation, and visual storytelling techniques.
  • Knowledge of video compression, formatting, codecs, exporting, and platform optimization.
  • Familiarity with content creation for digital, social, and broadcast platforms, including aspect ratios, short-form content, and audience engagement best practices.
  • Strong file management and digital asset organization skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot production and editing issues independently.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting corporate communications, internal communications, executive communications, marketing, or employer branding initiatives.
  • Experience producing content for multiple digital platforms, including social media and internal communication systems.
  • Basic photography, graphic design, or motion graphics experience preferred.
  • Portfolio or demo reel showcasing videography and editing work strongly preferred.

Hiring Rate: $56,441
