Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is searching for a Senior Technical Business Analyst - Investment Technology for a Direct Hire opportunity with one of our premier investment management clients in Atlanta, GA . This is a hybrid role requiring onsite presence 4 days per week .
This Senior Technical Business Analyst will support one of the firm's fastest-growing technology organizations focused on Custom Separately Managed Accounts (SMA) . The team delivers technology across the entire investment lifecycle-from client onboarding and portfolio management through trading, compliance, operations, and settlement-and partners closely with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Investment Operations, and Engineering teams to deliver scalable cloud-native investment technology solutions.
The ideal candidate is an experienced Technical Business Analyst with a strong background in Investment Management , excellent stakeholder management skills, solid SQL and data analysis capabilities, and the ability to work effectively with software engineers, solution architects, and cloud-based technologies. This role is primarily Business Analysis focused with enough technical depth to understand application architecture, APIs, databases, and cloud-based solutions without serving as a software developer.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Investment Operations, and Technology teams to gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between investment business stakeholders and software engineering teams.
  • Translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and development-ready requirements.
  • Facilitate requirements workshops, solution discussions, backlog refinement, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Perform SQL-based data analysis to validate business requirements, investigate issues, and support development efforts.
  • Work closely with software engineers to understand application behavior, APIs, cloud-based solutions, and technical implementation approaches.
  • Support solution design discussions by helping bridge business requirements with technical architecture.
  • Analyze investment workflows and identify opportunities to improve automation, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Support technology initiatives spanning client onboarding, portfolio management, trading, compliance, operations, and settlement.
  • Participate throughout the Agile software development lifecycle including planning, testing, user acceptance testing, implementation, and production support.
  • Assist with data mapping, integration requirements, and validation activities across multiple investment platforms.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to business stakeholders and business requirements to development teams.
  • Build strong relationships with business users while providing a high level of customer service and support.
Required Skills
  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, or Business Analyst supporting enterprise technology initiatives.
  • Strong experience gathering, documenting, and managing business and technical requirements in Agile environments.
  • Strong SQL skills with experience querying relational databases for data analysis and validation.
  • Experience supporting software engineering teams and working closely with developers throughout the SDLC.
  • Working knowledge of APIs, system integrations, and modern application architectures.
  • Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms such as Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Ability to understand application code and technical solution discussions without serving as a software developer.
  • Investment Management, Asset Management, Wealth Management, or Capital Markets technology experience.
  • Experience supporting trading systems, portfolio management systems, investment operations, or related financial technology platforms.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across business and technology organizations.
  • Self-starter capable of managing multiple priorities within a fast-paced Agile environment.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience supporting Separately Managed Accounts (SMA) platforms.
  • Experience with investment platforms such as Advent APX, Perform, Salesforce, Charles River, Eze, or similar investment technologies.
  • Experience supporting cloud-native application development initiatives.
  • Exposure to Python or the ability to understand and review Python code.
  • Experience with REST APIs and enterprise integrations.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake or modern cloud-based data platforms.
  • Experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT), data validation, and production support.
