Salary: $17.58-$23.32 DOE

Job Title: Tree Care Technician: Groundhand (Levels 14)


Location: The Urban Foresters, Austin, TX Branch
Department: Operations
Reports To: Foreman


Role Objective
The Groundhand is responsible for the safe and efficient management of the "Drop Zone." This role progresses from basic debris management to advanced technical rigging and heavy equipment operation, ensuring that tree removals and pruning are executed without injury or property damage.


Core Responsibilities (All Levels)

  • Safe Zone Management: Maintaining a 360-degree awareness of the "Drop Zone" and "Chipper Zone."
  • Equipment Maintenance: Daily cleaning, fueling, and basic "field-stripping" of power tools.
  • Debris Processing: Dragging, stacking, and feeding brush into the chipper using safe feeding techniques.
  • Communication: Utilizing standardized hand signals and voice-and-response communication with the climber.


Qualifications

  • Physical: Ability to work outdoors in all weather and lift 75+ lbs.
  • Credentials: Valid Texas Drivers License.
  • Safety: Willingness to obtain EHAP (Electrical Hazards Awareness Program) and First Aid/CPR certification.
