Job description

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), is seeking a Solid Waste Landfill Gas Technician for our St. Louis, MO office.

You will be responsible for working on a variety of diverse environmental projects related to landfill gas collection and control systems. The majority of your time will be spent in the field and traveling to and from sites. Your duties will include:

  • Under general supervision operate, monitor, and maintain landfill gas migration control/recovery systems
  • Collect data from wellfield extraction and environmental monitoring locations
  • Perform wellfield valve/vacuum adjustments, data collection and maintenance; interpret data
  • Assist with small construction projects including pipe and valve installation
  • Use Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) piping materials and associated equipment to perform maintenance on piping systems
  • Provide on-call response to GCCS related malfunction event(s)
  • Work truck (with tools) provided for travel to and from job sites
  • Personal protective Equipment provide
  • Perform surface emission monitoring

Potential sign-on and relocation bonus, if applicable.


  • 2+ years of basic knowledge of principles and practices related to the operation of landfill systems
  • Will work as a member of a project team(s) to complete specific assignments at municipal solid waste landfill(s) in Midwest 
  • Willingness to work outdoors a majority of the time
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word and Excel and working with Android other technology will be necessary with the associated work
  • Ability to travel for out-of-town work
