Ampcera is a US-based innovator and global leader in the development and characterization of solid electrolyte materials for next-generation solid-state batteries. Ampcera has a growing IP portfolio of high-performance engineered solid electrolyte materials, revolutionary scalable manufacturing processes, and novel designs for solid-state batteries.

Ampcera is seeking a Manager, Battery Technology to lead our solid-state battery development team. This role owns the day-to-day operation of a cross‑functional team of scientists, engineers, and technicians, sets the technology roadmap, and works closely with external vendors, partners, and our solid‑electrolyte team to accelerate progress toward key milestones.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day operation of the solid‑state battery team, comprised of scientists, engineers, and technicians.
  • Plan the technology roadmap and identify/onboard external vendors and partners as needed to reach target milestones.
  • Screen external chemical suppliers and vendors (active material, carbon, binder, solvent, etc.).
  • Work with the solid‑electrolyte team to provide feedback on handling and performance.
  • Write government grant proposals and manage government‑funded projects when active.
  • Write technical reports and develop standard operating procedures.
  • Mentor and develop team members, providing technical guidance and performance feedback.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field, with 5+ years of relevant industry experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Experience developing solid‑state batteries involving sulfide, halide, or oxyhalide chemistries.
  • Knowledge of and experience with electrode dry processing for solid‑state batteries.
  • Knowledge of and experience with electrode wet processing (e.g., slot‑die coating, reverse comma coating) for solid‑state batteries.
  • Experience managing a cross‑functional team of scientists, engineers, and technicians.
  • Experience working with cathode active materials such as NMC, LCO, LFP, and other next‑generation cathodes.
  • Experience working with anode active materials such as Li, Si, Gr, anode‑free designs, and other next‑generation anodes.
  • Proficiency in electrochemical testing methods (EIS, HPPC, GITT, GCPL, etc.).
  • Proficiency in characterization techniques (SEM, EDS, XRD, XPS, TGA/DTA, etc.).
  • Experience in the development and optimization of solid‑state batteries, including producing and testing SSB pouch cells.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute a technology roadmap, including sourcing and managing external vendors/partners.
  • Experience writing government grants and managing government‑funded projects is a plus.
  • Meticulous, organized, and self‑motivated.
  • Fluent in English with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Capable of executing multiple tasks in a fast‑paced working environment.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Acute safety awareness.
  • Pass drug test and criminal background check.
