Job description

Company: Solar Works Energy / EPEX Home · Location: Albuquerque, NM · Employment Type: Full-Time · Compensation: Competitive pay based on experience

Solar Works Energy / EPEX Home is looking for an experienced Journeyman Electrician with strong knowledge of solar PV, battery storage, electrical code, and high-quality installation standards.

This is not just a "get it done" electrical role. We are looking for someone who takes pride in clean work, understands the importance of code compliance, and can help hold our installation teams accountable to a high standard. The right person will play a key role in making sure our projects are completed safely, professionally, and with the goal of passing inspections the first time.

NABCEP certification is not required, but it is highly valued and would be a major plus for this role.

About the Role

The Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and supporting residential and light commercial solar PV and battery storage systems. This person will also help ensure that our electrical work meets company standards, NEC requirements, utility requirements, manufacturer specifications, and local inspection standards.

We are looking for someone who can lead by example in the field, produce clean and professional installs, and help create a culture of quality across our solar and battery projects.

Responsibilities

  • Install, wire, troubleshoot, and service solar PV systems and battery storage systems
  • Perform electrical work in compliance with NEC, local AHJ requirements, utility standards, and company installation standards
  • Ensure installations are clean, organized, safe, and inspection-ready
  • Support first-time inspection pass rates by catching issues before inspections
  • Review system designs, equipment layouts, and electrical plans before and during installation
  • Work with solar crews to ensure proper wiring methods, labeling, conduit work, terminations, grounding, and equipment placement
  • Troubleshoot solar PV, inverter, battery, backup, and service-related electrical issues
  • Help maintain quality control standards across multiple projects
  • Train, coach, and support installation crews on proper electrical practices
  • Communicate professionally with inspectors, project managers, homeowners, and internal team members
  • Identify field issues early and help create practical solutions
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, workmanship, and customer experience

Preferred Experience

  • NABCEP certification is a strong plus
  • Experience with SolarEdge, Enphase, Tesla Powerwall, FranklinWH, or other battery/inverter platforms
  • Experience with residential service upgrades, load centers, meter/main equipment, transfer equipment, and backup circuits
  • Experience working directly with inspectors and AHJs
  • Experience training or leading field crews
  • Commercial solar or battery experience is a plus

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Full-time, stable employment with one of New Mexico’s leading solar and home energy companies
  • Opportunity to work on solar PV, battery storage, backup power, roofing, electrical, and whole-home energy projects
  • Career growth opportunities as the company expands
  • Supportive team environment focused on quality, safety, and professionalism
  • Paid training on products, systems, and company installation standards
  • Opportunity to help raise the standard of solar and battery installations in New Mexico
