The Position:
The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the development and day-to-day operations of their territory and customer base, which will include relationship-building with contractors, consultants, clients, and potential partners in any of these areas. This role will be responsible for our highest-level projects and may include managing and training other Project Engineers/Managers (PEs/PMs).
Responsibilities:
  • Be a leader on all work sites by wearing proper PPE and espousing the Walbec value of Safety by regularly participating in morning huddles and following safety protocols/practices
  • Manages the overall project management operations in their assigned geographical territory or client base
  • Generally, manages highest profile projects
  • Bids and manages our highly complicated projects, high penalty, PWL, night work, and projects with tight timeframes
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Manufacturing, Technical Services, and Walbec Group family of companies
  • Knows and understands all aspects of bidding; knows competition along with analyzing and bid theory
  • Trusted source when Area Manager is not available
  • Mentors, trains. and supervises less-experienced PEs and PMs as needed
  • Knows the industry well and is involved often (WTBA, NAPA, WAPA, etc.)
  • Participates in interviewing and evaluating new hires
  • Involved in Association meetings and able to promote the asphalt industry and Walbec materials and services
  • Has strong relationships with customers and can use to our advantage such as:
    o Changing job schedules
    o Changing job phasing
    o Implementing more efficient methods of doing work
  • Promoter of our industry and company
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, vocational training, certification from an accredited organization or combination of schooling and relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of project management experience in construction or manufacturing
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
  • Working knowledge of DOT guidelines and regulations
  • Experience in training and mentoring individuals

  • Prior transportation industry and logistics experience
  • Established strong, trusting relationships to gain support and achieve results
  • Effectively envision, develop, and implement new strategies to address competitive, complex business issues
  • Manage multiple conflicting priorities
  • Be self-directed and motivated
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, consulting, conflict management, and interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Excellent client management and business literacy skills
