Construction Superintendent Job Description
The Construction Superintendent works closely with the VP of Construction amp; Development to achieve the performance goals of all the company owned amp; managed construction projects within their assigned regions. The Construction Superintendent supervises and coordinates the construction of the company owned amp; managed hospitality projects. They ensure that the quality of work and materials meets and exceeds PHC construction standards. They are responsible to supervise all the construction related operations on the site. They ensure that all plans and specifications for the project are implemented according to the design / plan. They monitor the workers and the progress of the project and provide reports to the VP of Construction amp; Development. They ensure that the project is completed on time and within the budget.
Primary Requirements:
-College level education
-Minimum 2 years of construction related experience
-Must be strong communicator with excellent written amp; verbal skills
-Must possess strong interpersonal skills
-Must be able and prepared to travel extensively
-Must be willing and able to sign Paragon’s non-disclosure and non-compete agreements
-Must be able to negotiate and evaluate value
-Possess a valid driver's license.
-Must be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
-Experience in the hospitality industry is preferred.
General Responsibilities:
-To ensure that all safety measures and plans are implemented
-To review, coordinate, and approve project submittals with architects, general contractor, and sub-contractors
-To oversee all on-site construction activities
-To ensure that all purchases and direct site costs are within the budget
-To organize and coordinate all contractors amp; vendors and ensure consistent performance
-To record all costs for materials and payments to ancillary trades
-To inspect the work, performance and safety of all trades and workmen
-To meet all requirements for licensure, inspection and compliance with governmental agencies
-To follows the project construction process schedule to ensure that it is completed in time
-To provide project progress and close out records
Essential Functions:
-Coordinate subcontractors, vendors and tradesmen to follow the project schedule.
-Walk the project site regularly to monitor work performance and productivity of crafts.
-Ensure quality of workmanship remains constant.
-Manage on-site work operations
-Maintain and update as-built information, field changes and change order modifications.
-Ensure safety procedures are being followed.
-Keep a clean, quiet, safe and respectful working environment for the hotel staff and guests.
-Follow cost effective procedures.
-Develop punch lists and resolutions to issues.
-Hands-on participation as necessary.
-Effectively communicate with the Project Manager and Hotel Management Personnel.
-Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
-Understand the implied work on a PIP.
-Have strong construction leadership ability.
-Effectively schedule work, coordinate trades and deliveries.
-Ability to implement plans and specifications, layout and maintain the job schedule.
-Effectively work independently while in a team-based environment.
-Ability to interact effectively with Owners, Banking Representatives and Hotel Management.
-Ability to produce a project schedule using Microsoft Project and maintain same.

-Send a daily PHC Today end of the day activity and accomplishment email to the Paragon VPO amp; Core Corporate Staff.
-Effectively schedule work, coordinate trades and deliveries. .
-Ability to implement plans and specifications, layout and maintain the job schedule.
-Effectively work independently while in a team-based environment.
-Ability to interact effectively with Owners, Banking Representatives and Hotel Management.
-Willingness to work extra hours as project dictates.
-Possess excellent verbal and written skills.
-Ability to produce a project schedule using Microsoft Project and maintain same.
-Must be organized and have the ability to multi-task.
-Understand construction phasing, shutdown notifications, multiple shift work, meeting completion deadlines and F F amp; E coordination.
