Overview

Position Summary:

Responsible for assisting with other craft workers in physical labor on jobsites whileย maintaining a clean, safe and efficient construction site and supporting the overall project.

Responsibilities
  • Essential Job Functions:

    • Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
    • Complete all required Safety documentation
    • Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery to load, offload, push and pull
    • Level earth to fine grade specifications using shovel or other hand tool
    • Mix concrete or grout using portable mixer
    • Smooth and finish freshly poured concrete using float, trowel or screed
    • Position, join, align and connect pumps, motors and other mechanical or metal parts
    • Mop, brush or spread paints or bituminous compounds over surfaces for protection
    • Spray materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint or stucco through hose to clean, coat or seal surfaces
    • Apply caulking compounds by hand or with caulking gun to seal crevices
    • Grind, sand or polish surfaces such as concrete and steel, using abrasive tools or machines
    • Perform tasks involving use of hands and tools such as torqueing/tensioning bolts and studs, assembling metal parts, building bolt cages, vibrating concrete, sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing forms from concrete, and demolitions, cleanup, use of jackhammers, etc.
    • Provide assistance on the site as needed
    • Perform care and maintenance of assigned tools
    • Perform physical labor on construction sites
    • May be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice ย 
    • Other duties as assigned

    • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and six to twelve months of related experience in construction
    • Or equivalent combination of training and experience

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

    • Take reasonable care of your own and othersโ€™ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzekโ€™s Zero Injury principles
    • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10's and 100's; ability to perform these operations using units, weight measurement and volume
    • Ability to understand units of force, pressure and torque and apply appropriate tooling adjustments for each
    • Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
    • Be able to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards

    Working Environment:

    • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions
    • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and extreme heat
    • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration
    • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud
