As one of the nation's largest single-source providers of lighting and electrical products, electrical services, electrical construction, and energy management solutions, Facility Solutions Group is expanding its staff and seeking a Solar Operations Manager to join the FSG team.

The Solar Project Manager is responsible for the full life cycle of commercial and industrial solar installations-from planning and budgeting through execution and closeout. The PM is directly responsible for maintaining project schedules, managing budgets, upholding safety protocols, and ensuring high-quality, on-time delivery. This includes planning shutdowns and crane lifts, writing purchase orders, creating and submitting customer invoices based on milestones, and processing payments to vendors and contractors. The role also includes publishing regular project reports to customers.

Responsibilities

Project Planning and Execution

  • Develop and manage detailed project schedules (Gantt charts), budgets, and work scopes.
  • Plan and coordinate electrical shutdowns and crane lift activities, ensuring safety, timing, and communication are optimized.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Maintain accurate job costing records using FSG systems (COINS, Job Intelligence).

Procurement & Financial Oversight

  • Write and issue purchase orders for equipment, services, and subcontractors.Create and submit invoices to customers aligned with project milestone completions.
  • Track and approve vendor and contractor invoices, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
  • Maintain financial accuracy throughout the project lifecycle and proactively resolve discrepancies.

Team and Site Management

  • Coordinate with internal crews, subcontractors, engineers, and vendors to ensure successful field execution.
  • Conduct regular site visits to verify progress, quality, and safety.
  • Uphold and enforce strict safety standards to ensure all work is OSHA-compliant.

Customer & Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and publish regular customer reports with updates on progress, risks, and budget.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through transparent communication and proactive problem-solving.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Manage all project documentation including permits, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and closeout packages.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
Qualifications

Required:

  • 3+ years experience managing solar, electrical, or construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of shutdown procedures, crane lift planning, and construction workflows.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, procurement, and field teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and project management tools.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of experience in solar operations, project management, or construction finance.
